2. The genre of this selection would be science fiction.
3.The rising action in this selection occurred when the father was taking his son to the car and he gets to leave his home and see the outside world for the first time, climax occurred when they finally arrive to the destination and he gets to see the all the beautiful wonders he had heard of about the world but then he also sees the funeral pyre of the world, the radioactive aftermath of Armageddon. The falling action begins when he realizes he will never be able to live in the outside world but that one day his grand-kids will one day have that privilege.The denouement begins with his father telling him the story of their time which until them meant nothing but a fairy tale to him.

You know this because the boy talks about the levels they are going up until they reach the top. Then comes the next setting which takes place outside. Although they are in a car the whole time the boy explains the mountains and hill and the old towns and buildings they pass. Finally the last setting is when they stop at the edge of the radioactive hole in the earth.
7.I think the author emphasizes details of the setting to get a point across that our choices affect our future generations. If he didn’t give so much attention to these details than the mood might not be so pressing and you might not get the whole point of the story.
