In the novel “Things Fall Apart” by Achebe, religion is a belief of an induvial and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. Christianity was one of the religion belief that was used in this novel that can both guide and destroyed society.
Colonialism is a political or ideological system of beliefs advocating or justifying colonial control of one nation over another nation, territory, or people. In result of having one nation taking over another, the society may have been destroyed because the people who already lived there will need to learn how to adapt the change of culture, religion, and language.
On the second page, Okoye is a musician who played the Ogene. He own a big farm and in his farm he grew yams. He had three wives so far in his life. Okoye has a great communicate skill because he able to talk for a long time. “Okoye said the next half a dozen sentences in proverbs” (Achebe 2). This mean that the people of Umuofia speak a complex language full of proverbs and literary and rhetorical devices. Achebe's translation of the Igbo language into English retains the cadences, rhythms, and speech patterns of the language. …show more content…
He was scare at first and tries to run away a few times before. Okonkwo treated him like family and he slept over his house. Ikemefuna was happy to be part of Umuofia. On page fourteen, where it say “The three women talked excitedly about the relations who had been invited, and the children revelled in the thought of being spoiled by these visitors from the motherland. Ikemefuna was equally excited. The New Yam Festival seemed to him to be a much bigger event here than in his own village, a place which was already becoming remote and vague in his imagination” (Achebe 14). This means that Ikemefuna is an exciting addition to Umuofia because he brings with him new and unfamiliar folk
