This Goldfish Would You Wish Analysis
(Title)
In the best interest of society, people’s differences should be accepted since there is a lot of diversity. Thus, diversity can help society get a better understanding of others’ difference in values and opinions. This allows the community to become tolerant and understanding, which strengthens societies. However, society has to consider the safety of the people by putting a limit toward their acceptance of diversity. Without limits, people become deluded into thinking they can do whatever they want, which may include hurting others; however, being able to accept others differences will also help benefit the community’s growth. There are many different values and perspectives, which should be accepted to allow mankind to succeed.

Some differences that society should not accept are fights and misunderstandings like in “The Wife’s Story,” when the wolves killed the husband because he was different, and they thought he was about to harm their pack (Le Guin 110,127-129). When there is a huge diversity in society, it creates misunderstandings since people fear the unknown. The wolves killed the husband because they didn’t understand what the husband was going to do. Diversity can cause society to be in a war and lead people to their death. In the story, “What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish?”, Sergei misunderstood the situation and thought Yoni was going to steal his goldfish, so Sergei killed Yoni (Keret 102-103). When Sergei wished for Yoni to come back alive, it showed how Sergei regrets his decision due to a misunderstanding. In other words when society has misunderstandings, they tend to do irrational things. When society doesn’t limit the acceptance of differences, then the situation could be worse. To allow society to continue to be safe, society should work to enforce laws to prevent issues from arising. Different appearances and methods can cause society to cause problems such as killing one

Kingonomics by Rodney Sampson is about intertwining Martin Luther King Jr’s principles and entrepreneurship. The title itself is captivating because it could have been titled ‘Martin Luther King Jr and Entrepreneurship’ but morphing the two main aspects of each idea cause interest and topics. Throughout reading this piece of literature, I could not help but notice myself agreeing with much of what was said. My eyes were open to a broader range of problems and solutions.…

Kwame Appiah talks about, we must wrestle with the idea of diversity and its value. We cannot expect people to be the same, we cannot enforce it upon people either, and it’s completely unethical to do so. Why do we value diversity so much? Do we secretly fear the overly globalized world of the future and the identity crises we will face there? What will our lives be like and will corporations annihilate our individuality once and for all? I don’t think that’s the case. Humans are innovators, creators, and regurgitators but we never spit it back at you the way you gave it to us. That is the secret behind change, especially cultural change. Culture, which is by definition, the shared beliefs system of a people applied to all aspects of shared and personal life within that people, depends on the participation of the individual. One person in any given culture is always the unit of measurement in that culture by which you are able to understand and measure the culture. One person can change and so the culture at large has begun to change or diversify or evolve. What makes us change, what drives…

What is meant by diversity? It is defined as the state of having different varieties. Our world are filled with different kinds of people. People are often judged by their religion, skin colour and basically the education they received. Whenever there are misunderstanding within diversity, it would only lead to one thing, war. Perhaps we may never taste the bitter experiences of war but history has shown us that whenever there is war, there will be sorrow. People have to cope with the feeling of having to loss someone they love and live in fear. Imagine if one day, the happiness you built in several years snatched away from you in just one day, your life would never be the same again. It is evident that harmony within diversity must be nurtured and cherished so that peace will stay the same as it has for many years.…

It’s meant that every individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences (race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies). It’s about understanding each other, understanding and appreciating interdependence of humanity, cultures, and the natural environment, practicing mutual respect for qualities and experiences that are different from our own, understanding that diversity includes not only ways of being but also ways of knowing, recognizing that personal, cultural and institutionalized discrimination creates and sustains privileges for some while creating and sustaining disadvantages for others, building alliances across differences so that we can work together to eradicate all forms of discrimination .…

Have you ever stopped and viewed the world around you ? The world is so mysterious and unique. We live in a diverse population with people of all different cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and spiritualities. Max De Pree, an American businessman and writer, once said “ We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.” Diversity is the understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. I believe that people fear diversity because they fear what they do not know. In the NASW standards and ethics it states:…
