Topic: Justin Bieber Arrested for DUI and expired license
Summary of Story and PR Concept/Tactic:
Pop star Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami, Florida for various illegal actions including drag-racing, driving under the influence, and driving with an expired license. Justin Bieber was then taken into custody the morning after and was charged with DUI, and a bail set at $2100. Justin Bieber was then released hours after his arrest. When leaving the police station, Bieber waved to fans, and went on his way. Bieber was silent, and never said anything pertaining to his arrest. Days later, he posted a photograph on his Instagram account, with a side by side photo of him waving to fans out side of the Miami Police Station, next to a picture of Michael Jackson doing the same. The caption read “What more can they say?”, and then later tweeted on his official Twitter account, “You are all worthy, no matter what anyone says >> be strong God is with us all > My beliebers changed my life > I will forever be grateful.” And that was the last Bieber said about the situation. The same day, Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun tweeted him his account “@justinbieber love you and i will act in the manner of someone who truly cares. that is all I have to say. thanks for all those concerned.” That was all that was said by Justin and his manager.
Evaluation of PR Strategy Used:
At first Justin said nothing about the situation, and was silent for days, and did nothing to protect his image. And when he finally opened up and broke the silence he did nothing to improve the damage that had been done days before. The only person who tried to correctly shed some light on this situation, was his manager. Overall I feel as though Justin said nothing to better his dilemma because he felt as though there was nothing he could do. I feel after this situation, a lot of people felt strong animosity towards him and his
