a good rhythm scheme for his poem. What he means by this is that people including himself have given up so much of mother nature and have given their lives away to riches and fortune. This is like giving giving up your soul to the devil.
That being said he goes more into depth of the poem, he uses imagery while also using romanticism of Imagination.
Not only does he explain how we don’t appreciate nature enough but he talks about nature itself and describes it. He uses these lines to explain it, “This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon, The winds that will be howling at all hours, And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers”. This symbolizes his emotions about what he sees going on in the world. This could mean that he is outside looking at the beautiful land of mother nature, he hears the sound of the wind blowing. Wordsworth also says “ this sea that bares her bosom to the moon” not to describe how the sea and the moon look but to symbolize that the moon has a gravitational pull on the water to cause tides and waves. This said making the ocean look
beautiful.
Wordsworth not only talks about how people neglect nature but he also talks about religion. In lines 16-20 Wordsworth mentions how we let religion control us. He says that the world has given into religion and people are taught to have one set of mind and are not free to think of themselves. All reality this true we have people in this world judging one another because of religion. We also have people claiming a religion as their own even though they know nothing about that region. People let others define who they are and they don’t think for themselves.
