As a fundamental icon, in the United States, Thomas Jefferson is stipulated as one of America’s founding fathers from the many essential tasks he performed, but for most importantly drafting the United States Declaration of Independence. Throughout the American Revolution, Thomas received the governorship position of Virginia and after the battle, he became the France appointed minister. He served as the state’s initial secretary, its 2nd vice president, and its 3rd president. Thomas Jefferson facilitated the founding of the Correspondence Committee of Virginia in 1773. He made the most eloquent opinions against the authority of congress over the colonies. He affirmed that the colonists became only cohesive with England through their charitable allegiance to the sovereign (Ellis 24).
Jefferson became a delegate towards the second Continental Congress between 1775 and 1776, when he initiated the Declaration of Independence.
He made his words a reality when he notably wrote a bill that ascertained religious freedom, ratified in 1786. Thomas Jefferson had vast implications for America during his lifetime. He can be termed as the foremost iconic figure in who advocated for the need of democracy. This encompasses: the economic individualism, faith in human nature, and the American conviction (Ellis 65).
The instrument of political democracy generated a notion that a common man should be made better (http://www.pbs.org/jefferson).
He called for cultural uniformity, national self determination, and education for all. His prominence on uniformity could not envision a republic that attained multi-racialism and some groups would not be assimilated totally into the values of the identifiable republican. He enabled the essential components of democracy such as free press and public education. On the other hand, Jefferson was unwilling and unable to abolish slavery till the demands subjected naturally from the entire people’s sensibilities. This became obvious when Jefferson signed a law in the bill, which officially isolated the United States postal system to disallow blacks to transmit mail. Jefferson has long term influence on the American history and a thorough examination of Jefferson’s life provides a study of the magnificent leadership qualities he possessed. Through complying with the many poorly rewarded political positions, he served; Thomas Jefferson sacrificed numerous years of his wealth and productive farming. He envisaged America as patently superior and as a consequence made America a reality. He committed his lifetime to the pursuit that the government must serve its people rather than their master.
