In his article, Thomas L. Friedman writes about his latest trip to Paris where he got picked up by a taxi driver who seemed to be totally biased by his mobile phone. During their drive to the author’s hotel, he found out that the taxi driver was probably communicating with his family in Africa all the time – while he didn’t exchange a single word with Friedman. Even though it is a great thing that the driver can keep in touch with his family, Friedman states that this is the way modern technology is dividing people who are just next to you.
