Thomas Paine includes a short story of how It was before, when there were no kings. This supports his perspective of having self-government instead of being governed by the crown.
Paine’s choice of arranging this sentence along with his other sentences he directly states what he is going to be talking about which lets the reader know.
Thomas Paine personifies America. He states the opposite side of the argument here which makes him credible because he shows both sides not just his.
He decides to use sarcasm in his diction to get his point across. Here he compares it to the point that people that follow being governed by the king should keep being governed by the king, like just because a child has bloomed because of milk doesn’t mean that for the rest of his life he needs to drink only milk and not eat meat to grow.
Once again Thomas Paine personifies Great Britain which clearly states that they have not protected America to help them out but for their own benefit.
Thomas Paine’s choice of including the comparison between a prostitute to its innocence and Britain and America states that Britain and America can no longer be friends.
Thomas Paine once again uses personification, nature is personified.
Thomas Paine’s choice of diction here is a comparison that anybody can understand which makes it easier for the reader.
