The key activities of Thorpe Park are to provide a safe but very enjoyable theme park that will attract people from all over the country. There is a retail department that consists of 8 shops and 3 barrows throughout the park as well as food outlets. Another activity that Thorpe Park offers is the Human Resources department which is responsible for providing an effective and proactive service in respect to the welfare, training, development, reward and recruitment of the Park’s staff. When we were their for our trip we went to a seminar were the advertising team showed us how they advertise Thorpe Park and the reasons why, e.g. lowering ticket prices for a week to get people in if their customer numbers go down. At Thorpe Park there is also the Sales & Promotions team that sell ticket packages to guests to enhance their visit.
The customers visit Thorpe Park and the people Thorpe Park is looking to attract are young people in the age range of 12-25 as they offer cheaper deals for school trips. However the park does aim to attract groups of people as they offer group and family tickets at a reduced price encouraging them to visit their theme park.
The purpose of Thorpe Park is to offer products that can be either goods or services. Thorpe Park has to provide products that satisfy their customer’s wants and needs. They offer these products at a price as you have to pay for tickets that allow you in the theme park. These prices allow Thorpe Park to make a profit. This means that Thorpe Park must charge a price that more than covers the costs of running the park e.g. staff wages, maintenance.
