Those Winter Sundays Analysis

Poems typically talk about the main human emotions that are expressed namely love, and reminiscence. Songs usually collate with poems because most have similar meaning also focus on main human emotions like love, and reminiscence. Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden speaks about how on sundays the speaker’s father had to wake up and work in the cold, yet nobody ever thanked him. In the song When I’m gone by Eminem he stresses on his daughter Hailie he doesn’t have time to spend with him. In those Winter Sundays the speaker emphasizes that his father works everyday not just everyday. The speaker says his father works and he works on “Sundays too” therefore meaning his father is supposed to not work on that day as like everyone else, and
have time to spend with his family. Furthermore the father never had time to spend which brought distant relationship with the speaker. In When I’m Gone Eminem goes on a tour and leaves Haile with her mother. Haile wants to spend time with with Eminem but he said to her "Dad's gotta go catch a plane". Like Hayden’s father. Eminem doesn’t have to time spend with his child. In those Winter Sundays and in When I’m gone both express similar atmospheres. In those winter Sundays Hayden uses personification when he says he “fears the chronic angers of the house”. This means that something was wrong with the relation of the family and the speaker had a depressed life because of it. In When I’m Gone Eminem also explains he has something wrong with the family. While the whole family is outside Haile says "You're makin' mommy cry, why, why is mommy crying”. Haile one day's piles boxes in front of the door and says “Daddy please, daddy, don't leave, daddy, no, stop it". Haile doesn’t want her dad to leave and also her mother is crying because of trust issue, which therefore makes the household unhappy like Robert Hayden’s. In conclusion poems can similar meanings like love and reminiscence.
