Similar to me, the speaker “Those Winter Sundays” by Robert Hayden, had a different view on love as a kid and love as a mature adult. Acts of love, as kids, appear to be what parents are supposed to do, not things parents want to do to make your life easier as they love you, an important realization that comes with maturity. Parents constantly attempt to provide opportunities for their children, even without the best circumstances. When the speaker was a young boy, he never considered the action of warming the house in the morning one of love, he merely believed it was his father’s job to do that as the parent.
