Hanoi, Love Essay
Understanding all the stories and characters really take you to a deep thought of mindset. These stories and character's each resemble a meaning. Which is to change in any way shape or form? To change is a difficult thing to do you have to reassemble yourself to other different actions or opportunities. The six facets can help me explain more to you about these stories and characters.
A mother’s and a daughter’s bond is irreplaceable, as to a sibling’s bond is irreplaceable. The mother not wanting to see her daughter unhappy is just like the brother in the poem, “Thoughts of Hanoi,” the thoughts running through their mind is if they see their brother on the battle field will they battle and kill each other? Although they are separated, dead or alive they show concerns about each other. In Love must not be forgotten, the daughter says, “No, mother, I believe it. I am the only one able to see in your locked heart.” Being physically gone from her daughter, she was still able to feel what her mom felt. In the poem, “Thoughts of Hanoi,” it said, “Brother, how is
Hang Dao now?” It shows how much they care for each other even though they are physically apart.
The woman’s perspective is that people deserve an equal and fair trial. With the choices of being married or not, she chose the road to not get married. She felt that it wouldn’t be fair for Qiao Lin to marry her with the feelings he endures when she felt nothing. “Why don’t you want to marry again?” her mother said. “I’m afraid I’m still not sure what I really want,” she replied. Acknowledging her choices, she saved Qiao Lin from walking himself into something that might fail later in life. She believed he deserved the best, and giving him the best was to not marry him.
The woman felt as if she wasn’t going to find any type of love. She would ask herself if love would be present anytime soon. She later on realizes that there are different things she can seek in life rather than being in love. “Let us wait patiently for our counterparts.” Waiting doesn’t mean that it won’t happen, it just means to let things happen naturally. The woman felt relief that she knew what she really wanted and stuck to it without being unfair.
Through these stories, I’ve learned that I should give people a fair chance, and not cut them off so quickly.
Everyone deserves the best and nothing but the best and as long as there is no guilt involved I know that I am doing the right thing. Also, it taught me that I should never put myself in a position where I wouldn’t want to seek advice. Being able to search for things through myself and also through others is a huge satisfaction that we shouldn’t be shy about. It doesn’t hurt to get a “second opinion.” Everyone deserves to be happy and it made me realize that I should be focused on all the optimistic things that will make me happy.
