Three Adjectives Of Connor's Unwind
Conor is a very complex character in the novel Unwind, but I chose just three adjectives to describe him. In this novel three kids, Connor, Lisa, and Lev, are on there way to be unwound, but a freak accident happens which allows them to get out of the cars they were in. They run away and go to a place called the graveyard which a community with only Unwinds in it. Connor, Risa, and Lev all get different jobs in this community and try to stay there till they are eighteen and can’t get unwound, but it will not be easy for them. The three main adjectives that describe Conner are; aggressive, controlling, and impulsive. The first adjective that describes Connor is aggressive. One example of this is on page 6 when it states, “For once he held his temper, and aside from a few fights in school…” This quote shows that Conor got in fights when he went to school. Conner getting into fights shows that he is aggressive because if you get into so many fights you are probably at least a little aggressive. There are also a few other quotes that prove that his aggressive and a trouble maker. One of them being on page 101, Connor starts fighting with Roland. On …show more content…
Conner makes a lot of very impulsive questionable decisions. One of them being on page 62, “Going against all sense of self-preservation, Conor bolts straight for the porch.” In this quote Connor is running for the porch to get a baby. Connor make this decision without thinking. Conner making a decision without thinking shows he is impulsive. One other example of Conner being impulsive is on page 34, “The boy with murder in his eyes pulls on Lev’s silk shirt, trying to pull him out of the car, but the seat belt holds him tight.” Conner is the kids trying to pull Lev out of this car in this quote. Connor probably made this decision without any thought because he doesn't even know Lev and could have died trying to save him. These quotes both show Connor is very

Neal Shusterman, the author of, UnWholly, ventures into the idea of using hopeless children to be of use to people who require a new set of vital organs or body parts. The term, unwinding, is when a child at the age of 12-17 has his or her body parts cut up, so they can be transferred in to another child in need of that specific body part or organ. Children who think about committing suicide have the choice of being unwound. However, parents that feel like their children will become a nuisance or a failure in life can have them be unwound without the children’s consent. Neal Shusterman is trying to convey the message that children who think or seem like they are meaningless can become sacrifices in order to allow other children survive and…

Some phases are on how he created his inflection points, his inflection points, and the ramifications. People always strive for perfection, yet constantly fall short. Flannery O’Connor presents life as that of unredeemable pain, and that humans are simply organisms who are violent contradictions. Flannery O’Connor’s stories often feature characters that are similar in many aspects, facing different situations. “A Good Man is Hard to Find” and “Everything That Rises Must Converge” depict much of what O’Connor is famous for in the literary world. Through the use of theme, style, and symbolism, Flannery makes it clear the powerlessness and impotence of humans and the insignificance of their desires, dreams and pretentions.…

One word to describe Risa from the novel Unwind is thoughtful. In the novel Unwind, Risa uses her head in difficult situations, such as when she pretends to be "Didi" in order to get them food and clothing, and when she starts clapping in order to cause a distraction outside of the school. Risa knows how people will act in certain situations and uses that to get what she wants, like when she causes panic in the school by clapping, or when she knows that the woman will be annoyed by the Didi character and give her stuff to get her to go away. This shows that she is street smart and food at thinking logically through problems; because of this, Risa and Connor avoid getting caught or starving. Another example is when Risa decides not to receive…

The story centers around three teens who have been scheduled to be unwound; Connor, a sixteen-year-old whose family believes he'd gotten into too many fights, Risa, a ward of the state who doesn't make it in the continuing program because of budget cuts, and Lev, a tithe whose rich parents had him specifically to be unwound, as he is the tenth child. Lev and his family believe 10% of everything they have should be given to God, including Lev. Connor discovers his unwind order and decides to "kick AWOL" or run away, and tries to convince his girlfriend Ariana to go with him. She agrees but later backs out, and he runs off alone with the help of a trucker. However, his cell phone tracker gets him caught. Connor resists arrest and flees the police, running into traffic and snatching a tithe (Lev) from a car to use as a hostage and human shield. The chaos which ensues causes a bus full of State Home wards (StaHo kids) on their way to the harvest camp to overturn, and provides Risa with the perfect opportunity to escape. Risa, Connor, and Lev flee into the woods, and are pursued briefly by a Juvey Cop, whom Connor shoots with the Police Officer's own tranquilizer after he and Risa bait him.…

The Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified in January 1919 and executed in January 1920. It banned the “manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors”. This amendment was the finishing touch of decades of realization and fulfillment by organizations such as the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union and the Anti-Saloon League, and was also built upon the dry laws of eighteen states. The Prohibition Amendment had heavy consequences. It categorized the brewing and distilling of alcohol as illegal. It then went on and expanded state and federal governments, inspired new forms of sociability between men and women, and suppressed elements of immigrant and working-class culture. During the Prohibition era’s initial years, amendment supporters were delighted by a drop in arrests for drunkenness,…
