his admirable; the tricks that the pig uses to deceive the wolf make him absolutely praiseworthy. It is fair to say that the third pig is the most admirable out of the three because he is clever, dignified, and always prepared.
To begin, one trait that portrays the third little pig’s admirability is how clever and cunning he is.
The pig displays this trait in many ways, but the most significant event that displays his cleverness occurs after the wolf fails to blow the third pig’s house down. At this point in the story, the wolf tells the pig that he knows of a nice field of turnips; he says that he and the pig should leave together at six o'clock to get some dinner from that field. This is actually a way of deceiving the pig in order for the wolf to get him out of the house and eat him. However, as mentioned in the story, “Well, the pig got up at five, got the turnips and was home again before six” (Liberty of Congress 12). As shown, the pig was clever enough to get his turnips before the wolf did so that he did not encounter the wolf; he knew to be careful and make sure to avoid the wolf, which displays his clever personality. To summarize, the clever way that the third little pig was able to deceive the wolf shows his …show more content…
admirable.
Next, another trait compliments the third little pig’s admirability is his determination. For example, the wolf’s next plan to lure the pig out was to ask the pig to meet him at the garden for some nice apples. Similar to the first trick, the pig went to the garden at four o’clock to assure that he would not have to cross paths with the hairy animal. However, as he is a pig, it took him a long time to get down the tree, and the wolf came by. Excerpted from the text,“he saw the wolf coming, which, as you may suppose, frightened him very much” (16). The fear represented in this is referring to the pig, who most certainly did not expect the wolf to come by. Although this may seem contradictory, the fact that the pig overcomes his fear, calms down, interacts slightly with the wolf in a calm manner and then throws an apple far away for the wolf to catch is what truly shows his determination. As the wolf runs to get the apple, the pig escapes. This makes the pig admirable as the pig knows that it is never good to show people that frighten us that they do actually frighten us. The pig, in this case, keeps his pride and does not let his fear show in front of the wolf. Therefore, the pig’s determination is yet another trait that makes the pig praiseworthy.
Finally, the third and final trait that displays the pig’s admirability is his preparedness.
An example of this was at the ending of the fair when the pig encounters the wolf for a second time during the wolf’s third attempt at gobbling up the pig. The text states, “So the little pig went off before the time, as usual, and got to the Fair, and bought a butter churn, and was on his way home with it when he saw the Wolf coming. Then he could tell what to do. So he got into to hide, and in doing so turned it round, and it began to roll, and rolled down the hill…” (20). As written, the pig had what may seem to be a useless item with him, a butter churn, at the time when he saw the Wolf coming. Fortunately, since the little Pig was prepared, he quickly found a way to escape his death. His preparedness was the fact that he found a quick and fast way to scare the Wolf away. All in all, in addition to his cleverness and determination, his preparedness contributed to making him the most admirable out of the three little Pigs as
well.
On the whole, the third little pig undoubtedly outsmarted the wolf in The Story of the Three Little PIgs. His cleverness, determination, and preparedness all contribute to him being the most admirable little pig out of the three presented in the story. His cleverness is shown when the pig configures a way to trick the Wolf with his first attempt. In addition the pig continues to outsmart the Wolf when he stays determined during the unexpected encounter with the creature at the apple tree To conclude, the fact that the pig was prepared during a second sudden sighting of the Wolf confirms his great admirability. Though pigs may seem like messy animals to humans, this story says otherwise. Despite the fact that it is a fictional story, it teaches us about traits that can be important to possess in life. Do you have these traits that the Pig had when he outsmarted the Wolf?
