In the society of Fahrenheit 451 it is illegal to read books and it is illegal to have a book. If someone is caught or someone called in the alarm on them for having a book, their books get burned by firemen, and they get taken to the asylum. The third missing thing in the Fahrenheit 451 society is the most important because without it, the first two things are useless and obsolete. Faber and Montag planned to plant books in firemen’s houses to make the society of Fahrenheit 451 more confident and to make it easier to achieve the third thing which is having the right to carry out actions based on what they learn from books. Quality of books is missing because today, most people write books and most of them aren’t good and they are missing the quality that are needed in books. Less people are reading books in today’s society because more people are reading ebooks or listening to audiobooks and other technologies that are replacing books. Leisure to digest the contents of the book is also missing in today’s society. Although, not everyone has free time to read books because everyone is busy doing their jobs, most people don’t have leisure to understand the books because with the new technologies appearing in today’s society no one spends time to process or analyze the contents they read.
