The Three Most Useful Elements of Success I have found many elements in the Student Success class that will be useful throughout my college career and life. The three elements I have found to be the most useful are time management, test-taking skills and memorization skills. I have found that I utilize these skills not just for school but in my everyday life. Some of the material was simply a refresher to what I already knew and used. Other parts of the material were new to me and once I tried to apply them I found that they were an effective way for me to learn. The lessons I learned in time management have allowed to me to work full time, attend college full time and still have time to spend with my family and friends. I have learned that allotting specific time frames to specific tasks is very helpful. I have also learned that multitasking is an effective way to accomplish a lot of things in a small amount of time. The skills I have learned in the test-taking lesson such as reading every question thoroughly and completely, preparing properly for tests, and arriving early for the test have greatly improved the grades I receive on exams. I also learned a plethora of ways to memorize material such as repetition, providing my own examples, and rhyming. These memorization skills have been helpful in both my courses and my daily life. In conclusion, I have learned many ways to be an effective student in the Student Success class. I have learned that these skills can also be useful in daily life. By using skills learned in the time management, test-taking and memorization lessons I have been able to enrich my life immensely. Every day is filled with opportunities to use these skills; at school, work or home. I now have a toolbox full of useful success tools that I will continue to use throughout my life.
