Throughout the holy bible, there is many information that raises questions in regards to the life of Jesus Christ. Synoptic typically means “to be seen together”, however the three synoptic gospels formed controversy about the life and baptism of Jesus Christ. Of the three gospels Mark, Mathew and Luke, Mark was known for writing the first gospel. In addition, the synoptic gospels seem to use the same biblical source, nevertheless each of their stories convey different messages and themes. This research paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the synoptic gospels, especially emphasizing that Mark’s gospel was the first gospel written. One of the controversy that was brought to attention was the order of details presented by the three synoptic gospels. They all used the same biblical reference, which was mark. As discussed in the previous paragraphs, Mark gospel consisted of sudden beginnings and uncertain endings. For example Mark first begun with an adult Jesus being baptized by john the baptizer while Matthew and Luke provided information about the life of Jesus Christ. On the other hand, Mark still was considered the first gospel not only because of his saying, but also by the other scholarly writings. However, some scholars believed that Matthew was the first gospel based on the order of the gospels and there dependability of Mark.
