Three-Year Course Of Study In Stephen Colbert's Life
Stephen Colbert came from a happy family in South Carolina. Because he is the youngest out of eleven children, he received love and attention from his parents and siblings. He loves to read different things such as, ancient and medieval history, and science fictions. During college, he decided to enroll in a three-year course of study in acting. Because he wanted to finish the program within two-year, he couldn’t make much friend. But, he got close to one of his professor, Ann Woodworth, who supported him. He learned to take risk and explore. Most importantly, he learned to accept failures and tragedies.

Theatre critic John Lahr has said that Simon’s primary themes deal with about being the “silent majority” in society, those who feel isolated, insecure, and frustrated. His characters are likable and easy for the audiences to identify with, as they too are struggling to find a sense of belonging, have troubled relationships in business, marriage, or friendships. In his plays, Simon seems to capture memories of growing up, or times gone by, in which we can all wistfully relate to and understand (if not long for). He truly is a living legend of the theatre and film; it is no wonder that he won the Mark Twain Prize for Humor in…

    Patsy Rodenburg Analysis

As a reader, I am better able to connect to Patsy Rodenburg’s words than to Kristin Linklater’s. Rodenburg is immensely honest and open about her own journey and I find many similarities between where I am at and where she used to be at. Most specifically, I love her words on laughter. Like Rodenburg, I, too, have had this deep insecurity that I may perhaps be incapable of humor. Especially as a woman who wants to enter a male-dominated field such as law and intelligence, I have been trained to control my voice and, thereon, my laugher as well.…

In this situation, we had the chance to improve both our acting skills, and to grow in our ability to communicate with and interact with children and other actors. I was privileged to participate in a workship project that did pertain towards my major, however, I was astounded by the efficiency and pleasure with which those who were not in the field of theater, performed these tasks as well. One of my companions, a nursing major, found joy in merely interacting with the children who stopped by our table. Although we were both in the same situation, while I was learning to better portray a character, she was learning to better interact with children. This parallels Newman's claim that in a liberal arts education we should learn for learning's sake, and not be restricted by the limitations of what is “only applicable to our majors.” A nursing major can learn through a theater workship opportunity, just as a theater major can learn through working with children. It is up to the student to determine what they glean form the situation into which they are…

As I still thoroughly enjoy my "twitter treasure hunts," where I discover actors, filmmakers, and the like, once in awhile, I uncover someone who doesn't fit into the neat little box that the world of entertainment attempts to construct for him. In the case of Stephen Jared, that is entirely true. While he is an actor, he is not your typical actor. And while he is a writer, I doubt one would label him as "mainstream" or "run-of-the-mill." Thus, if you follow my blog, you are well-acquaitned with the fact that these are the very kinds of people I take immense delight in featuring. Recently, Stephen agreed to answer a few questions about his career and the myriad of experiences he has had in both acting and writing.…

The show’s first episode entitled We Just Decided To opens with Atlantis Cable Network’s News Night anchor Will McAvoy, played by Jeff Daniels, alongside two other anchors of different shows answering students’ questions at a university forum. While the other two anchors give opposing answers based on opposing political beliefs, McAvoy demonstrates his well-known objective, nonpartisan self by giving genial, humorous remarks. When a female sophomore asks them to explain why America is the greatest country in the world, Will gives his usual witty answer. But when the host urges him to give a more serious answer, he loses his “objective” composure. He lets out an outburst of reasons why America is not the greatest anymore, therefore revealing the hidden bias and subjectivity in him.…
