People can earn respect or change opinions on them by doing certain actions. This is the theme for Rikki Tikki Tavi, a story about a family mongoose. He starts with the impression that he’s a regular mongoose.

One way Rikki Tikki’s esteem changed is his loyalty to the family. Rikki Tikki always stays with the family and never leaves them one day. He protects them from the wild animals of the garden. And he never betrays them even though he’s a wild mongoose.

Another way Rikki Tikka’s esteem changed is the actions he did for the family. Firstly, he killed Nag and Nagina who were plotting to kill the family. Secondly, he usually patrols the house at night to make shore no-one is there. Thirdly, he sleeps with Teddy every
