Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

As the years have gone by, more and more teens dread waking up every morning to attend school. On the positive side, there happens to be a select few students who actually love the auspicious opportunity to get up every day and go to school. The teens who enjoy attending classes have likely never considered skipping classes or worse, dropping out of high school. The reason these students don’t skip class is due to the fact that these students love going to their classes and school as a whole. High school is a place for teens to see, to feel, to discover and students need to take advantage of that. The ability to love school might be hard to grasp at times, but it can be made easier if students take time to get deeply involved with their school. Research shows that if students generally enjoy going to school on a day-to-day basis, students will move on to college and find success in pursuing a successful career. Teens who don’t particularly like high school tend to drop out. Dropping out can lead to a person struggling to obtain a reasonably paying job. Students should take every opportunity to make school fun and enjoyable. If a student does take advantage of the number of available opportunities, school will become fun, and for the most part, easier as a whole.
One reason- and perhaps the main reason a student would want to come to school- to see his or her friends. During weekdays, there is no larger gathering of teens in one place than at a high school. Why skip school and be home alone all day if all of the other kids the same age are in school? If a person doesn’t enjoy going to school, then it is likely to assume that the person will not end up being successful later in life. Students are able to see his or her friends at almost any time of the day with being able to walk the halls during passing periods, eating lunch with whomever a person chooses, or walking around the school before and after classes begin. Many high schools offer plenty of time to converse with friends, and that alone should make attending school fun and easy.
Teachers and courses can be a large part of how school can be considered fun and easy. Yes, every high school has churlish instructors who are fun suckers that don’t even enjoy being at school themselves. In most situations though, there happens to be a surplus of teachers who are very laid back and enjoyable. Teachers who are enjoyed by most students typically make his or her students feel like he or she is not even at school, and explain information in ways that make it easier for students to grasp. Teachers alone can make school fun. Along with teachers, many courses are available in high schools that offer the opportunity for a student to participate in cool projects, or intense experiments. Taking part in fun and exciting class activities make class go by a lot faster, and a lot smoother.
Students enjoy high school a lot more than middle school for one particular reason- freedom. While in middle school, students were only allowed to travel outside of class if accompanied by an adult. In high school, students are given much more freedom. For example, in most schools, seniors are given the option to take college courses. In high school, if a senior has a college class, that student is able to leave school early every other day. When given all of this freedom, why not use it as an advantage? Extra time out of the classroom allows students to finish homework and study for classes. Freedom makes high school much more tolerable for students, and gives students the option of making those four years of learning easier.
The students that dread waking up every morning to go to school have a lot of reasons to dislike school. Some of these reasons can be understandable for the most part. Liking a place where you have to sit and learn for eight hours a day can be hard at times. What teenager actually enjoys having to sit in a desk and listen to a person talk for an hour and a half? Attending school for a long period of time can also wear students out and as a result, kids struggle to do homework at night. Having to pay attention for an extended period of time makes school boring and not enjoyable. There happens to be a few exceptions for things to not enjoy about school, but there are even more reasons why school should be found very fun and easy.
Extracurricular activities make the world go round and round for high school students. Activities can include anything: sports, clubs, awareness groups, etc. In high school, people are allowed to partake in any of the extracurricular activities, which are great for getting a student to stop thinking about school for a little while. Supporting the football team and participating in things like pep rallies and dances make school go by faster. Time flies while a student is having fun. While participating in these activities, students create special bonds with people, and if a student enjoys being around the person he or she is next to, wouldn’t that make high school tons more fun and easier to attend?
To avoid becoming a very unsuccessful person in life, more teens need to make school easier by taking time to enjoy the fun things at school. People who actually enjoy going to school tend to be more successful in life. Students who find school to be easy side are the ones who take time to do homework and listen in class, and that transfers into being successful in college. If a student excels in school, that person will enjoy his or her time there a lot more. School is like a competition. The person who actually wants to be there will succeed. Hardworking students become successful in life because that person has a good work ethic, and also knows how to have a good time while working hard. If students take advantage of all of the available opportunities to make school enjoyable, will more and more students have success later in life?

As Gatto talks about his personal experience and the concept of schooling is an absolute boredom persuades me to agree on this fact. The idea that students have to attend school without having interest to the students makes it really boring. Students learning in schools must be interested in the subjects.…

School is a place where I’m supposed to learn about how to deal with life outside of school, but in reality a lot of what I learn is no use to me in real life. I’ll never have to graph a polynomial function outside of algebra class, and I’ll never have to explain to someone how to figure out the count of valence electrons in Oxygen. Outside of school, however, I do learn about things useful to me. Like how to communicate with others, or how I can survive on my own without having to be dependent on someone else. School has ceased to be about learning, now it’s all about memorizing material for a test and…

School can be an enjoyable place. It can be a place where friends are made, a place to laugh, make memories, and learn. Even though school has many positive aspects, students can also find many more negative aspects about it. It can be a place where teachers give tons and tons of homework, a place that only makes people stress out, a place where teachers just do not teach anything at all, or do not like certain students, a place full of hard tests, essays, and projects. Sometimes school can only be dreaded, heart and soul. Though school can be unwanted and undesirable for many, it is needed and it brings people many benefits to their future life. Teenagers should not drop out of school, giving up; instead, they should study as hard as they can and get as much knowledge as possible. High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. High school start times need to be delayed because teens will perform better in school. First, studies have shown that delaying school times has the same benefits as “shrinking class size by one-third or replacing a teacher in the 50th percentile of effectiveness with one in the 84th percentile” (Lewis 2). There are countless benefits of a smaller class size Compare two classes: one with fifteen people, another with thirty, the class with fifteen people will get more attention from the teacher because there are fewer students. Next, teens can get more sleep if high school start times are delayed. There are many advantages of getting the recommended…

A common phrase among young adults in secondary education is that there are three parts to high school life: social life, grades, and sleep. Pick two. Clifton Parker, on a study by education scholar Denise Pope, states “spending too much time on homework mean[s] students [are] ‘not meeting their developmental needs or cultivating other critical life skills,’” Students [are] more likely to drop activities, not see friends or family, and not pursue hobbies they enjoy.” To achieve grades that fulfill collegiate ambitions, students must spend all of the time they may spend with family or friends on the homework that earns them points. Teachers often assume that a student’s overall productivity is defined by the amount of work completed in a night. Many end up assigning at least an hour of homework to assure themselves that the kids are learning. Real life productivity is defined by advancement and development of character or leadership. Through that lens, completing busywork is not productive. Once students reach the real world, they are underprepared and underdeveloped to face day to day challenges. In an interview, Christine Gross-Loh quotes Krista Kuru, Finnish Education Chief, describing the reasoning against this approach. She states “Academics isn't all kids need. Kids need so much more. School should be where we teach the meaning of life; where kids learn they are needed; where they can learn community skills.…
