"Time is what we want most, but what we use worst,” said famous philosopher William Penn. Most of us let this happen much too often these days. We procrastinate and waste time on things that are unimportant or unnecessary instead of being productive on things that are of significance. Time is very hard to manage, because we can neither see it nor feel it until it has passed, and by that time it is too late. Time management does not only allow us to get more out of our day, but assists with making each of us a better person. Dictionaries define time as the hours and days in which a person has at his/her disposal. Keeping a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule is what works best for some and not at all for others. For me particularly, time management is one of my strengths and I only use a schedule or planner for certain things. Creating and implementing this weekly schedule however, allowed me to stay on track and complete all tasks before my suspense. The problem most individuals encounter is unexpected changes to planned events or engagements arise unexpectedly. When this occurs, one has to adjust fire and continue with their mission. Doing this within one’s employment is sometimes easier than within one’s personal life. There are several tips and techniques that can assist with improving and managing your time. Not all of these will be useful to each person. Some people may only need to adjust one or two elements in their daily schedule. These tips include items like making a list, prioritizing work or making better use of down time, rewarding yourself, setting personal deadlines and goals, or even working within a team. As you can see, time management skills are helpful in organizing and executing our time around our priorities. I have provided you with the background of time management, how to use it, and how it could help within your daily life. Remember just because time is intangible, it doesn't mean that it is not valuable.
