As the author describes this imagery, he has a negative tone. Words such as "darkness", "windows tightly shut", and "no sound" makes the author's tone negative. This quote is describing the homes as an unhappy place and compares it to the chamber a tomb-world. Every home is individual and separate from each other. This is showing judgmental on the American Society.…

As Joseph Ellis describes in his novel Founding Brothers, slavery was the most divisive problem in America. The states were divided not by their difference of size or but whether or not they had slaves. Instead of coming together and considering a compromise the North and the South each began to form the own arguments on the slave issue and began one of the biggest debates in the United States history. The beginning of years of debates came on February 11,1790 when two quaker delegates presented a petition to the House asking for the federal government to to put an end to the African slave trade.…

The Doctrine of Double Effect (DDE) is often invoked to explain the permissibility of an individual’s action that has two outcomes: one where the end result can be foresee and is good, the other that can also be foresee and is bad (Goldworth, Amnon, 2008). In other words, this doctrine is used to justify cases such as where doctors give drugs to patients to relieve severe pain (good result) knowing that doing so may shorten their life span (bad result). Under DDE, this action is justifiable because the physician intention is not aiming directly at killing the patients. The bad result of the patient’s death is a side effect of the good result of reducing the patient’s distressing pain. However, this doctrine is also a subject of controversy,…
Politically speaking, mentoring truly matters in nursing because the relationship that is created between the new graduates with their mentors provides positive feedback and is indeed a great investment in the health care. On the long run, confident nurses improve the overall health outcome of the system as a whole as well as patients' health, which naturally leads to reduction of fiscal spending on patient's readmission into hospitals and less occurrence of medical errors.…
An evaluation (Cave and Quint 1990) found participants in various mentoring programs had higher levels of college enrollment. Both programs also have community-based mentors that meet with their mentees on evenings and weekends at various locations, including the mentor's home. It is concluded that positive effects are much more likely when one-on-one mentoring has been strongly implemented. Our society shows positive results when we give our adult talents or compassion as a mentor and shows a promising future for our youth.…
Some learners may have social issues that will prevent them from learning effectively. Poor housing, family breakdown or substance abuse can make learning an impossible task. It is necessary that they too are supported and given an opportunity to actively participate in learning so that they can develop and flourish. A mentor can be assigned to these individuals in order to give them the one-to-one support and attention that they require, as a teacher may not always be able to provide this. This will aid in the learning and future developmental progress.…
Firstly, it sets a fantastic example of what as students and people in a loving community should do, which is to give back and help those that needs it. Service should be a priority in everyone’s lives because everyone including ourselves benefit from some form of service every single day. Mentoring is definitely a form of service. I am giving my time to help other students with their first year college experience just as someone helped me. I am doing both because I enjoy doing it but it impacts the community here at IUPUI. It makes people feel more included, it helps people be successful, and it gives students the push to serve themselves. I think a good perspective for this was another volunteer event that I participated in called Fall Fest. There I had the opportunity to talk to potential Women in Science Students about why I love IUPUI and what makes it the best place for a woman science major. The topic mentioned over and over was the resources, the experiences, the opportunities, and of course the mentoring. Every single one of the ladies present representing IUPUI mentioned a mentoring experience and how it has both impacted their education, career choice, and personal lives. Mentoring is a service because you both gain from it and give to the…
The mentor teacher has the greatest influence on the development of the learner as a teaching professional. This responsibility is a highly significant one. The knowledge, time, and involvement that is required to make this experience a valuable one for teachers, coaches and mentors is much appreciated by the educational organisation collaboration. Providing a climate for open and honest discussion, questions, and concerns will create an environment for professional growth and reflection in which both mentor and educational organisation can thrive.…
