Times Square: A Short Story
The date was September 2, 1945, the six year long war was finally over and America was celebrating the victory. The draft had taken most of the country’s men, but those who were older than 45 remained. The news of Japan’s surrender spread like wildfire throughout New York. Within minutes, Times Square was filled with people cheering and enjoying the harmonious atmosphere. It’s as if a scene from a movie was being filmed. The day seemed to be brighter than all others, the birds were chirping, and the sun glistened off of the leaves on the trees. The scenery was perfect for the awaited news. Snap!
Sailors soon started appearing among the crowd, and the cheers get louder when citizens started to notice them. Nurses were coming from left and right
