Timpanogos Cave National Monument
The Timpanogos Cave is one of the National Monuments of United States. The first person who was in there was Martin Hansen in 1887 but in those years this cave did not have the same name as today its first name was Hansen Cave.
A cave is a place defined as “any natural cavity large enough to allow human entry” it means that when people is inside there they get strict instructions to protect the cave and to preserve it for the future, the people has to be careful about do not drink or eat inside there, do not touch anything, be careful with your heads... all this things that make difference across the years for example all this different kinds of mineral deposits inside the caves, some people call them “Cave formations” another people call them “Speleothems”. They have names according with their formation for example “flowstone” indicates formed by flowing water or we also have “stalagmites” which have been formed by dripping water.
The caves are communicated between them with three different doors made with wood but all this happened because when they made the tunnels the air begun to flow through the caves and this was not good because the they were beginning to dry out, in consequence of this they put firstly doors made with wood and then they change it for doors made with recycled plastic because the there was mold beginning to grow in the wooden doors.
Sometimes when the tourists are crossing the Middle Cave Lake they get little cold water drops and those come from the stalactites which are in the top of the cave but the good news are that people say that they bring good luck and they are called “cave kisses”.
Most of the caves in the world have the same kind of minerals and Timpanogos Cave System is one of them, they are carbonate minerals in all of them but the kind of carbonates that we find in this particular cave system are calcite and aragonite which means that they have different structures but
