Bossypants written by Tina Fey is an extremely humorous book that I recommend to any women who is looking for a great laugh. Tina Fey is an extremely powerful woman who wrote this book to share her relatable experiences to her audience. Each new chapter of Bossypants has a special meaning and the cover has an image of Tina Fey’s face portrayed inside a man’s body. This image is a representation of Fey’s self image is an unstoppable, powerful, smart woman who has succeeded to the top of what is usually a man's profession. Through out this page turning book, you learn how Tina Fey became the successful woman she is and the multiple struggles of her childhood that pushed her to become who she is today. Bossypants is not a memoir it is a blend of humor and personal stories. The best part of Bossypants is that all the stories Fey tells are completely relatable to everyone’s life. Her book chronologically follows her life though her ‘awkward teenage phase’ and how she learns to meet new friends because of the lessons she learns in her life. This page turning book is guaranteed to make one laugh at the turn of every page! This book is so well written and Fey is absolutely hilarious when it comes to her vanity and attractiveness. Her bold, fearless attitude is on display through this attention-grabbing book. As Fey shares her secrets for success she demonstrates how to be a great boss through her funny, cunning remarks. I highly recommend this book to any woman who is looking for a variety of inspirational stories all tied together with a great…

Rachel Maddow makes the argument of how America has been rising to a state of military power through her wit and humor, just like her television news show. The appeal of Rachel Maddow lies in her ratio of comedian to wonk. On TV, she dives into charts and graphs and long, winding fact trails, unafraid of “geeking out” because she can depend on her funniness to save her. She connects the dots from fact to fact, or statistic to policy, and along the way a parachute of jokes opens.…
Many people would choose a family member or at least someone they personally know when it comes to talking about influential people in their life. For me, I have many people who have influenced me in my 17 years, but I want to talk about Tina Fey and how she has contributed to my development as a person. Many know Tina Fey as a comedian on Saturday Night Live; however, she is also a writer, actress, and very successful woman. I have been told that my sense of humor and personality resembles hers, and that is the greatest compliment I have ever received. For a good period of time, I have admired Tina Fey and that admiration has been a large influence in my life. Tina Fey, despite her multiple awards and recognitions, has not always been famous…
Marcus Dupree and his record breaking high school career was a stud running back from Philadelphia, Mississippi. The book Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger is about a high school football team from a small town in Odessa, Texas. The citizens of Odessa are football-crazed fanatics which thrive off the highschool football team, the Permian Panthers. For them, football is the most important aspect in their lives that they even value the teams winning record over grades. There is very little regard given to education among the highschool. Much of the town’s businesses are in dismal condition because oil, its main asset, is going through a boom and bust cycle. Bissinger follows around the Permian Panthers for a year with the intent of learning the effects and values football has on the small town of Odessa and why they put so much emphasis on football rather than other priorities and core American values.…
On August 29th, 2008 Senator John McCain announced his decision of electing Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential Candidate. This declaration provoked controversy amongst many of the United States citizens and while the majority of the people supported McCain, there were still a select few of both the republican and democratic parties that were bewildered by his decision. They view Sarah Palin as ignorant and someone who could not play any significant part in running the United States government, and their scrutiny of her soon reached the public via television. Although entwined with humor, the Saturday Night Live vice Presidential debate clip is an example of the doubts society has on Palin’s experience.…
The character I picked from The Breakfast Club is Allison Reynolds. This character relates to me by how she is quiet and doesn’t speak much when she isn’t comfortable with the people around her, eventually she will become comfortable and show her true self. She is also like me by the way how she lies a lot, and how she does admit to lying later on. I lie sometimes, just not as much, plus my lies aren’t as bad as Allison’s.…
In today’s political climate, comical discourse criticizing political candidates is not uncommon. On the cover of The New Yorker’s October 10th, 2016 issue, is a comical political cartoon criticizing the current Republican candidate, Donald J. Trump. In this picture, it displays Trump as an overweight model walking down a runway with many onlookers gazing upon him. Trump is drawn the attire of a beauty pageant contestant, which includes: a dress, high heels, earrings, crown, and sash. Trump is also holding a bouquet of flowers in his right arm, while in his left arm, Trump is holding up his crown. In the cartoon, Trump also appears to have a sad facial expression. Trump has his eyes closed, while tears create makeup streaks that flow down his…
town with an alarmingly rising crime rate and such bleak prospects that Money magazine rated it the fifth worst place to live in the United States. Football, Permian High football, was what held the town together. And hold it did, with crowds of 20,000 flocking to see games on Friday nights, and thousands watching every practice and internalizing every success and failure of the team.…
