However, Captain Smith canceled the drill for an unknown reason. A piece of hull steel was found and the edges they appeared almost shattered, but were chipped and sharp. There were also brittle fractures of the rivets. They sheared off when scraped against the hull steel; this led to opening up riveted steams. Also the rivets heads were popped off, which led to more seams to open up. The number of lifeboats carried on the Titanic contributed to the loss of so many lives. There were only
