Pachucos were known for wearing zoot suits, suits that consisted of a broad-shouldered draped jacket, balon leg trousers, and on occasion a hat. Zoot suiters were attached to this style because they found it stylish and cheap. Not all of the folklorico dancers wear long thick skirts to make skirt tricks. Each costume from each region represents that particular region by containing things they would wear and things that characterize that region, in other words the region’s heritage. For example, in the region of Nuevo Leon, German and ranching heritages arise. This is represented through the costume by including cowboy hats, boots (the color could be either black or white), shorter skirts up to the knee, and even fringe on the male costumes. Where the difference of costumes is exemplified is in the region of Jalisco. This is the origin of mariachi music, so it’s no surprise that the songs are based off of this music. Reflecting off of this heritage, men wear sombreros and charro. This is one of the regions where the women wear the popular skirts that people think of when they hear folklorico. These skirts contain brightly-colored ribbons to represent certain cultures from their region. As you can see the regions of Nuevo Leon and Jalisco have two completely different heritages, and this is reflected in their…

In “Prisoner on the Hell Planet: A Case History,” Art Spiegelman evokes German expressionist wood-cut drawings, similar to Lynd Ward, to convey and suggest depth and weight through his use of heavy and jagged lines. This strategy in turn helps the viewer embrace the emotional anguish Artie is feeling after finding out his mother had passed. Spiegelman sets the shockingly confessional tone of the piece in the first two frames by wasting no time describing his mother’s method of suicide. The 1972 story’s disturbing storyline and style of narration was not necessarily uncommon during the comix era (roughly ranging from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s), a taboo-breaking time when trying to shock the reader became common. Although “Prisoner on…

In this case, Coca-Cola is responsible for making sure that the glass bottles for Coca-Cola are safe and will not harm consumers in any way. It is their job to test the bottles for malfunctioning parts so ensure that they are not defective upon delivery.…
