In this assignment I have adhered to the E105 13J ethical guidance by: Altering the names of the children and other individuals so that they cannot be identfied.
Task One.
In this assignment I intend to discuss the involvement of parents/carers in supporting a child’s learning and development by considering how effective the Pen Green Loop is when used in partnerships between them and educational practitioners. I will then assess any differences between my practice and the approach of the Pen Green Loop, finally I will evaluate what changes could be made to improve the effectiveness of parental involvement in my setting.
The Pen Green Loop is a framework for settings to plan for children’s needs using structured observations. As cited in Book 1,block 2, pg 58 “the learning loop is considered to be a dynamic process, where by all the important adults in the child’s life give each other feedback on what seems to be centrally important to the child, and how and what children are learning in the home and in the nursery. (Whalley and Dennison, 2007, p.125) .”
The pen green loop is essentially a holistic approach to observing the child, where parent seam to be the starting point for the observation’s. where practitioners and parents are working together to identify the needs of the child and to develop their individual learning to meet these needs. It’s a progression as I see in step one where the parents observe the child in their home and give relevant information to the practitioner. As was evidenced in the dvd “parent liaison” (1.34 to 2.03) is showing that the information about her child is being passed on from key worker to manager in an informal way. weekly meetings or more informal daily sessions or through a diary or video exchange. The next step is to inform any outside agencies involved at weekly planning
