In today’s society, citizens can speak out on their own mind and not get persecuted like what would happen in 1960’s. People back then were all clueless and were blindly following what they thought of what was right. In the Tom Robinson’s case, many blacks were afraid of talking in court in fear of their own lives. Racial discrimination was so significant back then that negros were killed for speaking their own voice. I am now influenced to become braver and to stand up for what I believe is wrong because it does not matter what others thing. I feel that being a bystander is just as bad as being the person who the bystanders are not stopping, the constitution gave us the opportunity to speak our mind and we have the government on our side. I believe we have come a long way from where we started and that America is now a very diverse country to live in. To Kill a Mockingbird has brought out a part of me which I never really expressed, to be considerate of others and polite to everyone I know and do not know. I believe that all people no matter what color or beliefs are should have an equal chance of living in a country that our founding fathers fought for. I now look at people sort of the way Scout would have looked at people having different perspectives of people and not being racist.
