Themes are a major key point within a film, they basically allow us to get a better understanding of what the real meaning behind the story is. “The most important theme of To Kill a Mockingbird is the book’s exploration of the moral nature of human beings—that is, whether people are essentially good or essentially evil” (Sparknotes, 2016).
“In the movie To Kill a Mockingbird the mise-en-scène is well represented through lighting. The lighting utilized as a part of To Kill a Mockingbird was a mix of serene lighting in the sensational and repulsive scenes, and low-key lighting within the rest of the film. For the most part the movie uses a soft low-key lighting. This movie is also filmed in black and white so there are a lot of grey tones within it. By the cinematographer and director using this type of lighting they are able to create a sentimental feeling through this movie. You are able to feel respect, prejudice, sadness, happiness, pride, and dignity” (Easant,2014).
