To Kill A Mockingbird Chapter 1-10
The book’s first chapter is about Dryden meeting Rachel. She runs into him early in the morning and asks “Yes or no, she said, I can’t wait any longer”(Lee 6). From how Patrick Lee describes the scene you can clearly tell Rachel does not have a lot of time to waste. She needs to get going as fast as possible. That is why I chose the song Time Bomb by All Time Low. The quote from the song is, “We were like a time bomb set into motion, we knew that we were destined to explode”. This quote works imperviously for the whole book. The two are always being chased down and Rachel constantly has time stuck on her mind. She always has to be on the run from the Government. She makes some friends on this journey, in the little time she feels safe. She has had time stuck in her head since she escaped the laboratory that they were testing her in. Rachel tells Dryden she can not wait very long. She is just trying to keep enough time between her and the government, or at least enough to let her live. She lost all of her memory and that will take time for it to all come back to …show more content…
He just thinks he’s helping a girl out for maybe a day or two, but it ends up being much more than that. He is in for the ride of his life with this girl you could say, “I’m going off the rails on a crazy train” by Ozzy Osbourn. Dryden is stuck in a bad situation, “We’ll look at it for exactly one minute, and then we’re getting the hell out of here” (Lee 183). Dryden is a very persevering man, most people would not even have helped Rachel back at the pier. They would have thought she is weird for acting this way, but he sees past that. He can see it in her eyes that she is not lying. She is scared and just wants help. Dryden's life has definitely been chaos, he was a former agent for the people who are chasing them down. The government started the testing that is in Rachel as soon as he left, he has information on them and uses it to his

As we begin our epic journey in the science-fiction novel Slaughter-House Five, we are struck with an unfamiliar phrase. "Billy Pilgrim has become unstuck in time." But what does author Kurt Vonnegut mean by that? We soon discover that this idea of becoming "un-stuck in time" is major theme in this novel. Our protagonist, Billy, jumps to different points in his life at unexpected points in time. At time we find ourselves with him going through Germany in World War II. At other times, he is celebrating his wife's birthday or even telling the world publicly of his travels through time,. The theme of time used in this novel, is not necessarily in the chronological sense, but in the sense that we may need to think about that there is more than one possible way to view our lives by seeing them in different segments in random orders.…

In ‘Run Lola Run’ time is shown to be an important theme right from the beginning. We can see this in the first few seconds of the film when there is a low angle shot looking up at a pendulum swinging then the camera pans up to show us a gargoyles head for a clock. The gargoyle opens its mouth and begins to consume everything including us. This demonstrates early on through the use of cinematography that time is all consuming and uncontrollable which is linked directly to the predicament that Lola is in where she only as twenty minutes to save her boyfriend Manny and no matter what she does she can’t change the time she has. This key event is the whole meaning for the film ‘Run Lola Run’.…

In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, the main theme is that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. This metaphor of not killing mockingbird is clearly portrayed throughout the course of this novel. This theme is so important to the plot of this novel that the author decided to entitle the book after this very metaphor. Mockingbirds are birds that do not do anything wrong and they just give us music. Atticus is the main character in the novel that really stressed why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds are just a simple metaphor for the characters in this book who are killed, such as Mr. Raymond and Tom Robinson.…

The main antagonist in this novel is Bob Ewell, he represents the darkness and evil in the town of Maycomb, and causes the death of an innocent man. After this, he tries to find and hurt Scout and Jem as he is too cowardly to attack Atticus directly. His character is essentially a direct contrast to Atticus’s character, mean and evil, the epitome of the darkness in Racism. The character Bob Ewell stands in opposition to Atticus primarily, as he has such a strong role in the Tom Robinson case against Atticus. Although Mayella causes Tom trouble, Bob is the one who forces the incident to court, and pushes Tom to his eventual death. Even after this, he continues to bother Helen Robinson, and get revenge on anyone related to the case. Bob’s character is mean, nasty, and cowardly, he even disregards his family, leaving them to die unless he is provided with a severance check. Bob Ewell is the lowest of the low in Maycomb.…
