Some of the old fashion stereotypes include all whites being inherently evil. All blacks were poor and unintelligent. They were treated accordingly. Blacks steered clear of most whites because they knew that they could possibly be killed. Not all whites nor blacks fit into those molds. The problem is that people are persecuted and lives are ruined due to stereotyping. It presents itself in the 21st century as Racial profiling. For example a young black man by the name of Trevon Martin was pursued by a neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman. Zimmerman assumed Trevon Martin was engaged in gang activity. Zimmerman reported Trevon Martin’s suspicious actions to the 911 operator, but continued to follow the young man against the directions of Law enforcement. Trevon was aware of Zimmerman following him, tried to defend himself in the scuffle, but ultimately lost his life. Trevon was racially profiled and stereotyped. A young black male out late at night in dark cool ores clothing, in a bad neighborhood could initially raise suspicion. Yet Zimmerman presumed that someone who's circumstance subscribes to these conditions is automatically a threat or is a danger. Now Trevon is dead. If Zimmerman followed instructions and did not racially profile him then Trevon would be still alive and he could have changed america. He could have changed the
