Mufasa, the father of Simba, from Disney’s The Lion King is a perfect example of many desirable qualities. Whenever Simba needs someone to comfort him, Mufasa knows what to do to make Simba feel better. Likewise, when Simba acts out of hand, Mufasa knows when he should reprimand Simba and when Simba is just being a goofy cub. Mufasa comes off as strong, brave, wise, patient and, most importantly, a model of a respectable parent. Just like Mufasa, Atticus Finch also possesses many desirable qualities such as patience, understanding, and bravery. In TKaM, Harper Lee uses the character of Atticus Finch to illustrate the qualities of good parenting.…
Ideal families are usually formed by values, morals, and love between each others. However, in some cases, different families may form badly through separation. The Finches, the Cunninghams, and the Ewells were examples of families that were used by Harper Lee, the author of the story To Kill a Mockingbird, to demonstrate the values and costumes of families in Maycomb, Alabama. ,To determine whether if a family is an ideal family or not, one must investigate what an ideal family, the Finches, is like. A good example of a quote that was shown in To Kill a Mockingbird, was on page 24 and 25, "Hush your mouth! Don 't matter who they are, anybody… you can just set here and eat in the kitchen!" This quote was said by Calpurnia, a black cook of the Finches, when she was punishing Scout for being rude to little Walter Cunningham. This shows that even though the Finch family is missing one member of its family, the mom, Calpurnia is capable of replacing that gap. Another example of a quote that proves that the Finches are an ideal family was on page 127, "Jem 's growing up now and you are…
Atticus' management shows that he wants the best for her, also that he always knows how to show her the positive side in everything and in addition that he is more concerned with Scout getting an education than feeling comfortable at school. This shows that he truly wants that she will have a good life and that she will be a well educated girl. An Example for that is when he teaches her how to read. I think this makes his parenting seem reasonably good and that he just wants the best for his children. In generally he teaches his children to respect people for who they are, not to be prejudice, and to consider things from other points of…
Atticus’ parenting style was to let the children do things on their own and raise them to stand up for what’s right. He teaches them to respect their elders and that everyone has reasoning to their actions, good or bad. One of the times Atticus teaches the children to respect their elders is when he tells them, "I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand.”, regarding Mrs. Dubose. Atticus’ parenting style benefits the kids greatly because they learn to be independent, stand up for what they believe in, and they learn how to resolve problems on their own. The kids also address him by his first name which shows the reader that they look up to him as a person and not a parent…
As a father Atticus is affectionate with his children, Jem and Scout, ready with a hug whenever he can and is available to spend time reading to them during the night. Although he allows his children the freedom to perform many risky tasks and get into dangerous situations, he is also a firm disciplinarian, always teaching his children to think of how their actions affect others and devising punishments to teach his children valuable lessons. He makes sure that they get a proper punishment for what they did, why they did it, and make them fix it if they can.…

All through the novel, never once did Atticus scold his children for inappropriate behavior. The Finch’s had over a poor boy, named Walter. Scout insulted him with out understanding how it was rude,“…Atticus shook his head at me again. ‘But he’s gone and drowned his dinner with syrup…’”(p24). All Atticus did was shake his head; he left the rest of the punishing up to Calpurnia, the nanny. When Jem and Scout snuck into the court case that they knew they were not supposed to be in, Atticus did not show the slightest bit of…

Can you remember a time when you realized growing up had a lot of of ups and downs? In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, a young boy named Jem discovers this through his own unique experiences. At the beginning of the novel, Jem is innocent and naive while he is obsessing over his scary and mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley. As time goes on, Jem grows up enough to realize that Boo isn’t so scary and mysterious, and that other assumptions that he made similar to that one, such as those about Tom Robinson’s trial and growing up alongside his little sister, Scout, were also untrue. Throughout the story, he is growing up and experiencing many bumps along the way. We learn through Jem that growing up had both advantages and disadvantages.…
One example of why Atticus is a good parent is that he is protective because he would shoot a dog that was acting mad to protect them, even though he doesn’t like to shoot a gun thinking that he has an unfair advantage over other animals. In the text it states, “In a fog, Jem and I watched our father take the gun and walk out into the middle of the street.” (pg 96). This shows that Atticus will protect his kids no matter how much he doesn’t want to. He didn’t like shooting a gun because he thought that it gave him an unfair advantage against other living things.…
There are four different major types of parenting styles in psychology today: authoritative, permissive, authoritarian and noninvolved. Each one of these parenting styles have different effects on the children raised. There are many different factors that determine what type of parent you are and what type of child you raise such as; the environment, the way the parents are raised, and society. Although the way a child is raised affects their lives studies show that children raised by completely different parenting styles can grow to have similar qualities and qualities, and children raised by the same parenting styles can have completely different qualities and personalities. Despite those challenges, researchers have convincing links between parenting styles and the effects on children. The type of parenting style is measured by: discipline straggles, warmth and nurturance, communication styles, and expectations of maturity and control.…

In Harper Lee’s litereay work, To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus Finch models the perfect parent. Atticus lives in Maycomb County, Alabama alone with his two children, Jeremy (Jem) and Jean-Louise (Scout). Atticus is an only parent since his wife passed away, when Scout was little. Atticus Finch is a good father because he shares a truthful relationship with his kids that will always be treasured. He's also a man of patience and he understands his children. He is their teacher, protector and friend. Most of what Jem and Scout know and do comes from Atticus. He teaches them many important life lessons that can’t be learned from any book. Atticus teaches Scout that is no one ever understands a person well, until you look at this from their point of view (30). This shows a special bond between him and his kids, and that is that they respect his as a father and they value his opinion and advices. Atticus also teaches his hid that killing mockingbirds are sin because they don’t do anything to hurt anyone in this world (90). This advice can be taken literally, as in don’t kill a mockingbird or as in when we hurt things that do no harm to us, we are the ones who are doing a sin. An example of Atticus following his own belief is when Atticus stands up for Tom Robinson. Atticus believes that Tom Robinson is innocent in the case for raping Mayella Ewell and Atticus defends him. Atticus does this because he is a parent who knows that if he says things and he himself doesn’t follow it, then why should his children. Atticus treats his children like adults. He teaches them small morals which have big meanings to it. He is a great parent because he is not only their father, but he is also their…
