1. Who were the Scottsboro Boys? How did they get into so much trouble? The Scottsboro Boys were a group of nine African-American teenagers who were tried for raping two white women in 1931.
2. Where and when did the Scottsboro Boys' original trial take place? How do you think this affected the outcome of their trial? The Scottsboro Boys’ original trial took place in Northern Alabama in the year of 1931. The outcome of the trial was affected because since that part was racist they didn’t grant blacks the same court rights as the whites.
3. What does the NAACP acronym stand for? Why did the NAACP decide not to help the Scottsboro Boys? NAACP stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, they decided not to help the Scottsboro Boys because rape was a big deal in the south and didn’t know how they would end up looking like.
4. The Communist Party came to the aid of the Scottsboro Boys. How did the South perceive the Communist Party, and how was it similar to the perception of blacks? What was the Communist Party's hidden agenda in providing aid to the Scottsboro Boys? The South perceived the communist party as somewhat as traitors and unwanted, treated them as equal to blacks. The hidden agenda in providing aid to the Scottsboro boys was a great opportunity to recruiting tool amongst southern blacks and northern liberals.

The lawyers tried 9 defendants at once in the trial. 2. The lawyer was from New York so he treated the African Americans and the women differently which insulted the jury. 3. He found the Scottsboro boys hygiene offensive and they felt they weren’t represented properly.
