To me, leadership means displaying traits that inspire trust, confidence, inspiration, accountability and one’s ability to guide an individual or organization.…
What does it take be a leader? Do you need to have knowledge, power and/or admiration of those around you? Can anyone become a leader? According to Riggio (2013), leadership is the ability to guide people to success. The path-goal theory expands on this definition by including that the leaders responsibility is to help the achieve the groups goals (Riggio,2013).…
A dictionary definition of a leader is a guiding hand in a movement or group. My definition of a leader is someone who stands out amongst the rest and steps up to the task and helps the “followers” advance and strive to become a leader as well. The only way a leader can be effective is by leading by example. A prime example of this is Malala Yousafzai. She was shot in the face for trying to go to school. If she hadn’t gone to school she wouldn’t have been shot, but she also wouldn’t have a Nobel Peace prize. She is now using her story to speak for access to education for everyone. A leader is someone who leads by example and uses their skills to help others succeed.…
“The very essence of leadership is its purpose. And the purpose of leadership is to accomplish a task. That is what leadership does-and what it does is more important than what it is or how it works.” This quote by Colonel Dandridge M. Malone, shows that leadership needs to be focused on what it accomplishes instead of just being leadership for leadership’s sake. To me, a leader is simply someone who has a mind of their own; someone who sets their own path instead of following another’s.…
Leadership is defined as “the action of leading a group of people or an organization.” To lead means that one must possess courage, communication and listening skills, organization, and much more. Leadership qualities are vital to ensuring that a group of individuals can be successful in the goals they set for themselves. The greatest leaders in the world are considered great because of the success that those around them have experienced. While some groups do not experience success that does not mean they had bad leaders.…
Some look at leadership as the ability to lead. I agree 100% with leadership being the ability to lead, but in order to have the ability to lead you have to have more. There has to be a process of social leadership in which a person is able to aid and support others in their accomplishment when it comes to a specific task; this is a process of social influence on someone. Paying attention to how leaders carry themselves and interact with others socially giving guidance and being helpful. Leadership is also organizing a group or team of people to achieve a common goal and sometimes the leader may not have formal authority, but they are leading/guiding the group or team in accomplishing the goal.…
To be a leader one must possess a unique style and trait of leadership. Leadership and management are not the same but they both complement each other. A leader has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen. A leader is a person or persons who can inspire and motivate and can carefully plan a well thought out process and execute it with positive outcomes with every team member involved.…
To me, leadership is leading by example. My years in high school have shown me that the person who builds people up, and shows kindness is more of a leader than someone who commands and controls people. I strive to be this kind, caring person who others can look up to. As I grow older, I hope that by doing the right things, I can inspire others to do the same.…
A leader is not a title earned for the sole purpose of bettering one’s position in society. After all, one cannot ordain themselves a leader, they must demonstrate themselves to be one to their peers and to themselves. Being a leader involves…
A leader is a person that is profound and willing to lead the people to success and prevent any world wide disputes from happening. Also a leader is one who reason with one another to get a better understanding of the needs people desires. The etymology of the word of leader is from old English. An example of a leader would be Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, a civil right activist who gave the “ I Have a Dream” speech. In his speech he talked about people of different color should join together and not be segregated.…
A leader takes charge and takes accountability for all those who fall under his or her leadership.…
A leader is a person who represents the whole class and motivate them. I did not believe I was a leader. During my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I was a quiet spoken individual who listens to what others have to say. It was not that I did not have anything to say, but it was the fear of saying something wrong and others disregarding what I had to say. I did several presentations in high school that made speaking in front of people more easier. However, I was still the timid person who wanted desperately to break my shell but did not know how. A shocking moment had occurred when I had became secretary of Zonta Club. It was junior year and I was surprised to have been part of the leadership team. I was able to discuss my ideas and to speak with the members at ease. It was my breaking point. I was given a privilege to be part of something that made a change. I was not just the soft spoken person, but I was a leader…
Part of leadership is the ability to make a difference under difficult circumstances. But, what is a leader? A leader is a person or thing that holds a dominant or superior position within its field, and is able to exercise a high degree of control or influence over others. I portray the qualities that a leader has: persistance, determination, confidence, and passion. This past summer my gymnastics career went to the next level; I was offered a job at the gymnasium.…
A leader is one or more people who selects, equips, trains, and influences one or more follower(s) who have diverse gifts, abilities, and skills and focuses the follower(s) to the organization’s mission and objectives causing the follower(s) to willingly and enthusiastically expend spiritual, emotional, and physical energy in a concerted coordinated effort to achieve the organizational mission and objectives (Patterson & Winston, 2006).…
