Tom Robinson is that man, and he has been accused by Bob Ewell and his daughter Mayella of rape and abused towards the latter. Tom, the innocent man man that he is was accused of rape on the 21st of November. Even from the day that Tom was born, his parents always taught him to be respectful. When Tom was walking past Mayella’s house and she asked for help, his polite and respectful self helped her. And he did it for six months without fault, with nothing happening in between them. And it isn’t just Tom vouching for himself, Tom work on a farm as a farm hand for Mr. Link Dees.
Tom Robinson had absolutely no reason to rape and harm Mayella Ewell. Tom and an amazing job, the job of his life. He had a family and some change in his pocket. Why would he ruin something like that in his circumstances. Exactly! Tom Robinson is a kindhearted, helpful and thoughtful man. He even felt sorry for Mayella! With tom stating “I was trying to help her out, suh.” Now some people might jump to conclusions and say “Tom is a black person and as we know, all black people are bad. Also, why was he on Bob’s property, and why did he run away?!” My response to that is, first of all tom is stuck in one position. If he runs he would look suspicious and then be killed. But if he tried to resist and fight back, he would be in an even worse predicament. You now know that Tom Robinson is a polite, honest, and respectful young man. He has been supported by his employer and applauded for his work. These things show that Tom Robinson is an innocent man, who would never do something horrendous like raping and hurting Mayella.
