The propaganda used by the Nazis was the key to their power and policies, and their main objectives was to establish enemies in the population’s minds such as the nations that imposed the Treaty of Versailles, Jews, Romani, homosexuals, and Bolsheviks. Jews were blamed for robbing Germans jobs and for the Bolshevism, communism, and Marxism (the major enemies of the Germany in Hitler’s mind). A Nazi newspaper, even told Germans that Jews kidnapped small children before they needed the blood of a Christian…
In Lord of The Flies by William Golding, A Tale of Two Cites by Charles Dickens, and Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer people in power use their position to corrupt others. This suggests people should be mindful who they put in power. In these novels the authors show that no matter what age, race, social status, or even gender a person is, if given some-kind of power and competition they have the potential to become corrupt. Also, these three writings demonstrate that fear gives the ability to control people or a person.…
Throughout history, it has been shown that naturally, human beings can be evil and are competent of committing atrocious and disreputable crimes against other human beings. The United Nations has a law that is supposed to protect human rights; however, these rights have been violated in the past, and are still unfortunately, on occasion, contravened today. These human rights cover a wide assortment of topics and come in a number of forms. Many of these rights have been abused and today are studied deeply in history, such as sexual abuse against women, basic discrimination, or the commitment of hate crimes. Regrettably, there have been many lives lost due to infringements of these human rights, and in some horrific cases, these counts of numerous…
In Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler expressed his opinion of how Germany should be ruled. While in prison for a five year sentence, but he only ended up serving a few months, for a failed coup known as the Beer Hall Putsch, he wrote an autobiography that he named Mein Kampf as stated on page 478 of Important World Leaders by Guliano. In Vienna, he formed this notion that Aryans are the superior, master race while trying to pursue his dream of art, which he later failed at (“Adolf Hitler” Baird). In Mein Kampf, he explained that pure Aryan blood signified the dominant race, and the enemy was “Jewry, communism, effete liberalism and decadent capitalism.” This displays a renewed German nationalism under fighting and suggests they take back the land lost to other countries (“Adolf Hitler” Baird). This book served as the political platform for the Nazi party. This is significant because without this book, the Nazis may have never believed the Aryans were superior and should be the only race left in Germany. Adolf Hitler openly expressed and flaunted his anti-Semitism (“Adolf Hitler” Fredriksen). Without this book, the Nazis possibly may not have been convinced that the Jews were the enemy and the Aryans are above all, allowing for a mass killing of the Jews and other religions. Fredriksen stated that Hitler wanted to extend Germany’s borders, which might have been the cause for the start of…
the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators”, lasting from the years 1939-1941 (United States Holocaust Museum). After becoming the chancellor of Germany in 1933, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime strived to bring Germany out of the depression and debt zone that they were currently in. Since the Nazis believed strongly that the Jewish people were harmful to the Germans and were “inferior”, Hitler’s idea of helping Germany out of this mess was by getting rid of the Jews in his ”Final Solution”. As a part of his Final Solution, Hitler exterminated the Jewish population through the implementation of concentration camps. Located in these camps were: gas chambers, crematories, and labor camps, which were used to execute the Jews. At these camps, the Jews were forced to work and if not, “[they would] go straight to the furnace [Or] to the crematory” (Wiesel 47). Although the Jews were the main targets, many other groups were subjected to cruelty under the Nazis as well. Some of these groups included: gypsies, homosexuals, the physically/mentally challenged, communists, anyone who opposed the Nazis, and the elderly (Wahutu,…
Hitler ultimately wanted to establish a New Order of absolute Nazi German hegemony in Europe. To achieve this, he pursued a foreign policy with the declared goal of seizing Lebensraum ("living space") for the Aryan people; directing the resources of the state towards this goal. This included the rearmament of Germany, which was utilized in 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. In response, the United Kingdom and France declared war against Germany, leading to the outbreak of World War II in Europe. There are many forms of hegemonic internationalism and Nazi Germany pursued this by the most obvious way possible: by invading them for the “good of Germany”. This solidifies the belief that hegemonic internationalism is, in reality, one nation pursuing its own national interests at the expense of another nation. Hitler did what he believed would make Germany “better” regardless of what other nations national interests were. One of the main Nazi ideologies was that the Jewish people were the main cause of their problems. Hitler, using the policy of hegemonic internationalism; as he was invading the continent of Europe, rounded up 6 million Jews and had them killed in concentration camps. This is the worst case and the most extreme outcome of hegemonic internationalism, in which 6 million people died because one nation thought that it was for the good of their national interests.…
For the 12 years that Germany was ruled by the Nazi Party, a central belief was that there existed in society, certain people who were dangerous and needed to be eliminated for German society to flourish and survive. They included Gypsies, Poles, and Russians, but always and most certainly, the Jews. The Nazis condemned the Jews to death and there was no escape. No change in their behaviour or their beliefs would help them escape their fate. At every stage of the war, the Germans used their military power to dominate and terrorize the Jews. Thousands of Nazis and their accomplices searched the cities and countryside of Europe to eliminate Jews. This was a goal to which the Nazis devoted themselves completely. The Jews were in turn abandoned by their neighbours and by the world. They had no country of their own to which they could turn, and no means of self defense. The majority of the populations in which they lived remained indifferent to their fate. Many even helped the Nazis to imprison and deport Jews to the death camps.…
Nazi’s deemed certain ethnicities only usable as slave laborers in a German society. Adolf Hitler recognized the need for increased industrialization, as his militarized state called for more supplies. The Nazi Party by the mid 1930’s had already begun to deport Jews and encourage emigration. Hitler, after using hate-propaganda to threaten various minorities: Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, catholics, the mentally disabled, and other races. After publication of the Nuremburg laws, which outlawed citizenship for certain groups, Hitler and his regime justified transporting groups to work camps citing that they had no rights as they were not citizens. (Encyclopedia Britannica). In the camps, these groups worked as slaves to fund the German’s thirst for increased industrialization. (Kimel). This is historically significant because Hitler’s Nazi party effectively organized work camps based on ethnicity. Never before had a modern deliberately recorded inhumane slavery based on such meticulous…
“The blonde hair, blue eye, super men were to be the only race”. Anyone else that did not meet the race requirements were to by cleansed from society through genocide. Hitler and the German High command made a list rules for the fellow Nazis to follow. Requiring all SS before marriage must submit to general testing to insure racial purity. Thousands of marriages were denied due to this. If the laws for marriage were broken it could mean the death penalty. First the party needed propaganda to prove all other races were inferior. Measurements of heads, eyes, nose, blood were required. The vast majority of the early experiments were a propaganda sham. It was determined Gypsies had different blood and were inclined to criminal behavior. The same type of findings were made of all races other than the Nazis. After the camps were started, vast genetic experiments were undertaken. The range of the testing was broad and specialized. The two major groups of experiments were first to refine the master race and second to determine the cause of defects. Dr. Josef Mengele research on twins and Gypsies exemplifies the quest for the genetic studies. Dr. Mengele was known as the “Angel of Death”. He would be at every selection when the new trains would arrive at Auschwitz. After the victims were unloaded off the trains and stripped naked and divided into men, women, and children, he would sort through the thousands of…
According to Lefrancois, Social cognitive theory is a label for Bandura’s theory, which explains social learning through imitation using the principles of operant conditioning while recognizing the importance of cognitive activities such as imagining, symbolizing and anticipating (Lefrancois, p.386). Bandura’s theory was based on Skinners operant conditioning. If you recall Skinner believed in “free will” Therefore, Skinner believed that we have a mind, but due to the limitations on how to study our ”mind” he studied behavior because it could be seen by observation. Skinner was known for operant conditioning that was based on Thorndike’s “Law of effect”. Skinner and Thorndike believed that if a behavior…
The classification of Aryans and non-Aryans on the basis of measurements of the skull and other physical features. Hitler's goal was to remove what he thought were the inferior types from Germany, making more living room for the Aryans. The ideal race (Aryan) would have no disabilities, blonde hair, blue eyes and be German. The Jews were the main focus of his hatred.…
In the American South slavery was very hard on people and families. In the American South, families were split up and friendships were too. Slave families were split up. Families were split up by their kids and spouse getting sold and sent very far away. It was very hard to keep families together. People that were free from slavery came back to help their friends escape. Slavery was very hurtful and slaves were not treated nicely.…
World War two, the deadliest war to ever take place, began on September first, 1939, and ended six long years later on September second, 1945, with over sixty million casualties. Eleven million of these casualties were caused by the concentration camps of the Holocaust, or the systematic killing of six and a half million Jews and five million others by the Nazi’s. The children of the Holocaust were the worst off. They weren't given much chance at survival. All children under the age of twelve were sent straight into the gas chambers and those that were older and healthy were sent to the camps to be used for labor.…
The Holocaust was one of the most horrifying crimes against humanity. "Hitler, in an attempt to establish the pure Aryan race, decided that Jews, Poles, Soviet prisoners of war, Roma (Gypsies), and homosexuals amongst others were to be eliminated from the German population. One of his main methods of exterminating these "undesirables" was through the use of concentration and death camps. In January of 1941, Adolf Hitler and his top officials decided to make their "final solution" a reality. Their goal was to eliminate the Jews and the "impure" from the entire German population. Auschwitz was not only the largest concentration camp that carried out Hitler's "final solution," but it was also the most extensive. It was comprised of three separate camps that encompassed approximately 25 square miles. Although millions of people came to Auschwitz, it is doubted that more than 120,000-150,000 ever lived there at any one time. (Encyclopedia of the Holocaust)…
Hitler's foreign and domestic policies had the goal of seizing Lebensraum ("living space") for the Germanic people. He directed the rearmament of Germany and the invasion of Poland by the Wehrmacht in September 1939, leading to the outbreak of World War II in Europe. Under Hitler's rule, in 1941 German forces and their European allies occupied most of Europe and North Africa. These gains were gradually reversed, and in 1945 the Allied armies defeated the German army. Hitler's supremacist and racially motivated policies resulted in the systematic murder of eleven million people, including nearly six million Jews.…
