HN205: Applied Skills for Human Services
The human service professional must provide assistance to both Reggie and Todd to ensure that they continue to function effectively and become better members of the society. A professional must make sure that the two start living right in domains of life. The professional is in a position to understand both Reggie and Todd; their nature, and development. With this understanding, the professional is in a position to identify the cause of their problems (nationalhumanservices.org). There is the establishment of conditions that limit the effective functioning of their relationship. There is the identification of the reasons for the deviation from normal operation in the community.
The professional after identification of problems is in a position to come up with interventions in an attempt to help both Reggie and Todd. The aim of the measures taken by the professional should ensure the growth of the two clients. After problem analysis on the two individuals, there is the selection of services and strategies. The professional then has to plan on how to administer interventions to ensure that there is the achievement of the desired results. The professional must enhance personal skills such as boundaries and self-discipline, communication skills and ability to establish a relationship. It will strengthen a professional relationship that is essential.
A human service professional must ensure that he/she portrays a professional image. There are various aspects that improve the creation of an appropriate picture. Facial expressions go a long way in helping the professional creates the intended image (Henslin, 2011). A smile or frown is the first thing that Todd and Reggie will see even before they hear what the professional has to say. There might be a difference in facial expressions, and their meaning between cultures but most are similar such as those showing happiness and fear. Gestures are deliberate
