Being stuck in the wildern for the entire summer is one traumatic event. What if you had to survive the winter in the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on your back. The story Brian’s winter by gary paulsen takes place after the book Hatchet if he wouldn't have gotten recused. Now he has to brave a canadian winter. The theme of this book is to pay attention to what is going on around you. I know this because brian hasn't been paying attention to what is going on around him like winter changing and the animals acting different. It has been getting ccolder and colder each day and he just doesn't notice it as a sign of winter.…
In Jordan Peele’s Get Out, one of the main themes is the use of hypnosis as a way to take control over young, black males (and one women). While watching the movie, viewers are introduced to Chris Washington, a young African American man who studies photography, and his white girlfriend Rose Armitage. The opening scene of the movie shares the two preparing for a weekend in Lake Pontaco to meet with Rose’s parents, who are unaware that their daughter's boyfriend is black. As the couple makes their way to the house for their weekend stay, viewers are then introduced to Mrs Armitage, a psychiatrist who specializes in hypnosis, and Mr Armitage, a neurosurgeon, surrounded by black servants in the total privacy of the magnificent, yet, secluded estate…

In the tale Monty Python The Quest For The Holy Grail there are many themes found that are commonly known in medieval literature. Though in this tale you will find these themes to be a bit different from that of what you would expect. Here you will find common knightly behavior to be mocked and used to bring about comedy in the tale. You will find the role of women to also be mocked in that they are being used to please men among their sexual desires and not just of servant use. The characteristics of a noble quest will be found mocked along with the role of religion.…
March of the Penguins, by Director Luc Jacquet, demonstrates that sometimes the simplest conflicts in life are perhaps the greatest. This film is penguin versus nature; it's love; it's birth; it's death. Each of the three themes are simple. Each of the themes are clear. The end result is a movie that packs more feeling than anything I have seen in a long time.…

This is another of my all time favorite singers. Eric Carmen is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist. He had a number of hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s. He began singing as a member of the rock group The Raspberries. His solo hits include “All By Myself”, “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again”, ‘Hungry Eyes”, and “Make Me Lose Control”.…
William Carlos Williams has a tendency to hyperbolize and glorify objects in order to demonstrate their importance to the functioning of human society. This is done to the effect of creating “unsung heroes” out of everyday objects and encourages the reader to understand the value of little things in all situations. Interestingly, he does all of this without personifying his subjects. In “The Great Figure”, Williams describes a fire truck rushing down an urban street in the rain to put out a fire. In “Red Wheelbarrow”, Williams fondly describes how “so much depends/upon/a red wheel/barrow” (Williams). Since both poems are quite brief, one must not only look at the words being used, but the poetic structure itself to find the meanings both works have in common.…
To be king for a day is the central theme in "The King of Comedy" by Martin Scorsese, a black comedy that features Robert De Niro as Rupert Pupkin, an eccentric wannabe stand-up comic hell bent on achieving stardom. Pupkin idolizes talk show host Jerry Langford (played by Jerry Lewis) the proclaimed "King of Late Night." Pupkin's goal in life is to replace Langford becoming "The King of Comedy" hence the title. He believes himself to be a great comedian telling Langford (Lewis) in an early scene "I wouldn't take up even one minute of your time if I wasn't absolutely convinced of my talent. I'm really good, Jerry, believe me, I'm dynamite." However, this is a fallacy; Pupkin is actually a 31 year old natural-born loser and…
