Kevin and they all took off. Eventually, she ran into the backyard of a house and hid. On the way back, Corrie ran into a rideon mower and hurt her leg. With limited options,

In John Marsden's Tomorrow When The War Began, the first book of an adventure seeking series, he portrays several themes to the reader. Leadership is one of the main themes that is shown in the book. At many different stages they each have to face a leadership role. John Marsden shows the reader that Leadership is an important asset in life and is needed in any, and every, situation. Marsden also conveys the theme of relationships. Even though they are trapped in the middle of a war not knowing what to do first they still manage to build great relationships with each other as the story progresses. Marsden shows here that there are always relationships and feelings, even in the middle of a war. The main skill that they show is survival. They face life-threatening situations all through the book but yet they outsmart the enemy every time and stay alive. Survival is an important skill to be able to conduct because it shows that when you are placed in a dangerous situation you think about what you need to do.…

Ruth and her brother started walking toward the house to meet him. “Jotham! Jotham!” Ruth called out, “Where’s Zeena?” Jotham looked confused for a second as to why they were here, replied, “She should be in the house. Why? What’s wrong?” “Mattie and Ethan were sledding, they crashed into the Big Elm and…” Ruth burst into tears and couldn’t continue. “And what? What happened?” Jotham asked, beginning to panic. “They died. They crashed into the tree and were killed,” Ruth’s brother told Jotham. By this time, they had reached the house. Jotham slowly sat down into a rocker in shock and said, “I can’t believe it, Ethan and Mattie are dead?” Ruth just nodded through her tears unable to speak its truth. “We came to tell Zeena,” she said. Jotham led them into the…

e war beA character whom I found interesting In “Tomorrow When the War Began” by John Marsden is Ellie Linton, the narrator, the ‘voice’ and the protagonist of the novel. The novel, Ellie has been through many morals of life, which changes the way she thinks and acts, making her become very philosophical. The way she reacts to her feelings towards Homer and Lee also appealed to me. The themes of survival, loyalty and courage are shown in the actions of Ellie, which contributes to making Ellie Linton an interesting character.…

We also see the change in the character of Ellie. At the beginning of the novel we learn about Ellie’s life as a country girl who is a ‘tomboy’. Ellie was brought up on the farm and had no trouble doing l farm things like: driving the land rover, tractor, milking the cows and maintenance. Ellie however, is unsophisticated and not that in touch with her feelings. She has never faced a war situation where she has had to hide, dodge bullets and murder to keep herself and her friends alive.…
