The Tootsie Roll Expansion Project; Growth to Solidify the Future
“Everyone loves the flavor of a tootsie pop” has been a popular phrase for years, a commercial jingle that reminds everyone of the wonderful taste, a memory from childhood that brings people from miles around to local candy stores seeking Tootsie rolls, whether it is a lollipop or a tootsie roll chocolate, everyone one is familiar. Taking a corporation and expanding on it when it is already successful is a difficult concept but making a business better is something that we can and will do. Taking the Tootsie roll industry to the next level will require expanding the corporation and offering opportunities that will entice candy lovers of all ages. The physical expansion project along with the ‘taste and see’ tours will bring back the excitement of Tootsie rolls while taking the company to the next, sweet level.
Purpose for Loan Request The Tootsie Roll Corporation would like to apply for a business loan for the purposes of company expansion, specifically to facilitate the development and manufacturing of new candy types. In recent years, Tootsie Roll’s main competitors have released several new and exciting variations on their candy products; many involving bite sized pieces similar to the original candy and many now with the inclusion of dark chocolate which seems to have increased in consumer popularity. Specifically, an idea for a “Tootsie Roll Bite” has been proposed and ready to go into testing when funds to do so can be released. The loan proceeds will be used to facilitate the development, manufacturing and marketing of the new candy product(s). A portion of the proceeds will be earmarked for research and development for the new candy, taking into consideration that the research stage has already begun.
