Torchbearer
“Torchbearer,” a new documentary highlighting the increasing anti-Christian sentiment in the U.S., will serve as an urgent wake-up call for American believers, according to evangelist and reality star Phil Robertson.
The new Christian film which features Robertson as the narrator, gives viewers a peek into how godless societies evolved and how various regimes increasingly grew hostile toward people who stick to the teachings of the Bible. “Torchbearer” also shows the consequences that Christians in the past had to face for their commitment to Jesus Christ, Breitbart details.
In “Torchbearer,” Robertson explains that God created everything and that he made man and woman based on His image. However, “once you forget where your rights come from…

Randall Balmer, host of the documentary and former conservative Christian himself, focused on popular evangelicalism throughout his travels and interviews. Balmer visited the Christian Bookseller’s Convention, KWKY radio station in Iowa, Black and Hispanic parishes, among others. Each community had it’s own traditions, values, and stories; however, they all seemed to be in agreement on the literal truth of the Bible and the imminent second coming of Christ. From this movie I have learned that how one congregation practices their faith does not…

    Symbols In Jesus Camp

Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady’s documentary “Jesus Camp” is an eye-opening display of the intense power which can be directly associated with the belief of a deity, or some form of higher power. Following Pentecostal children’s pastor Becky Fischer and her unsettling children’s camp “Kids on Fire”, viewers are shown a series of clips demonstrating their deep-seated religious conviction. Among the various dialogue and imagery portrayed throughout Jesus Camp, the direct correlation between such a film and the demonic theory becomes increasingly apparent. Not only is power equated with the church, those who falter in their beliefs are looked down upon. Furthermore, speaking frequently of the temptation of sin, the acceptance of Jesus, and the ultimate…

This paper is a discussion on my worldview and my personal beliefs about God and creation. I will be contrasting it with a secular writing, the “Ransom of Red Chief” by writer O. Henry. I will discuss how I came to form these views, and defend each of my arguments with examples from the bible and similar writings. A quick summary of what I believe about God, creation, humankind, epistemology and ethics are as follows. I believe God is all powerful and all knowing, and loves his creation enough to sacrifice his son for it. I believe he made people in his image to worship him, and I believe we need a personal relationship with him to be saved. I believe we know things through looking at the bible and the world around us and using basic logic to tie it together. What I believe about ethics is that every person was created in God’s image and the world also created by him, so we must treat both respectfully and as God tells us to in the bible.…

February 6th is a day that will forever be remembered by Patriot fans around the nation as the day Tom Brady led the greatest comeback in modern football to become a five-time Super Bowl champion. However, for millions more, this day is representative of a long human rights debate that began over centuries ago. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Edmund Burke, and Jeremy Bentham met on this day to have an important debate over human rights. Stanton gave her viewpoint on the issue, then we heard a conservative contradiction from Edmund Burke, and a utilitarian contradiction from Jeremy Bentham. In order to articulate this debateeffectively, this article will begin with the summation of Elizabeth Canton’s argument, then move to Burke and Bentham. Through…

The concept of all men being created equal is interpreted in its simplest form as all members of mankind are created as equals and have certain inalienable rights or rights that are inclusive to them as members of the human race. Therefore, to own a person as if they are chattel, property, to be sold or traded as a commodity, not to be allowed to take action to maintain their natural-born autonomy is unnatural and works against the constructs of creation, the will of God (Kolchin,…
