Tosca Essay
Tosca This semester for Music Appreciation class my classmates and I were required to attend three separate musical performances of our choosing with the only stipulation being that it must be a CPCC featured event. At first my mindset was that this was just another class required assignment in which there was no enjoyment to be had, however this thought process changed just five minutes into my first show. While it should be known that I definitely enjoyed the latter two shows, both piano recitals, they did not compare to the overwhelming state of euphoria I was in while experiencing the Opera called “Tosca”. Time was running out on the featured Central Piedmont concert assignment. Luckily for me Sensoria, the annual week long celebration …show more content…
Tosca is disgusted by this proposition but the with her lover screaming in agony in the next room she reluctantly agrees but on her terms these terms being that the Baron must agree to free Mario and have a signed document that givers Tosca and Mario safe passage out of the city. The Baron agrees to these terms and signs the document as well as informing his guards however Tosca then stabs the Baron killing him then she exits and runs to get Mario and leave. She finds Mario and informs him that this is just a mock execution with no real danger and after it is done they can finally run off together. After the fake execution takes place Tosca is very impressed with her lover’s acting because it appeared so real, but then she finds out the horrible truth that it was real. The Opera ends with the guards tracking down Tosca before she leaps to her death concluding the third and final act.
Overall this performance was remarkably great. The signing from the cast especially Tosca and The Baron was absolutely fantastic, so much so that after watching I have acquired great deal of respect for Opera singers the sheer amount of stamina it takes in order to sing for that long is unreal and on top of that they were doing it in a foreign language. Ever since I have seen this Opera I have been trying to broaden my horizons with

    Tocqueville Essay

Alexis de Tocqueville believed that government control lied within the majority of the United States. He believed the United States to be a land of equality, liberty, and political wisdom, and considered it a land where the government only served as a voice for its citizens. However, abuse of that power can lead the majority to exceed its limits. The majority had a strong influence on not just the government, but also the whole nation. However, this was untrue for the minority. The minorities’ views were rarely heard. They had practically no say in who they wanted to elect, as the majority held most of the power.…

As the night sky slowly covered the city Tocino continued to run looking behind to see if any policeman were chasing him. He ran into a nearby alleyway and tried to catch his breath while looking out for police officers. “If it wasn’t for Isaac’s backup plan I would be in jail with him.” He thought. “How could the plan mess up?” He didn’t have a lot of time to think about…

Each choir was singing a different piece by John Rutter. In our choir there were about 8 different choirs that came together for this. The HCCYC was the only choir that included any middle schoolers, but since I skipped first grade, I was the only eleven-year-old on the stage throughout the entire performance. The concert started at eight-o'clock that night and we were the first act. We walk out of stage and everything hits us all at once. The entire venue is absolutely gorgeous, even more so when it is filled up with people. Everyone gets into their places, and Mr. Rutter had us pull out our music, and he started the orchestra. The entire room filled with the gorgeous sounds of the brass, woodwind, strings, and the heavy pounding of the percussion. We start to sing this glorious piece, and that feeling right then is one I will never forget. We all became so overwhelmed with the beauty of the music and it was simply a night to remember. This was the largest, most intense concert I have ever performed in. I got to have such an amazing experience on stage with such an amazing group of people in such a legendary venue, and it has given a whole different perspective on what making music really…

I enjoy and listen to variety of music from classical music to rap music. I have attended many concerts, mostly symphony bands concerts. I have attended many of my sisters’ honor band concerts. However, interestingly, through whole my life, I have never experienced jazz music and I have never been to jazz concert. This was my first time attending a Jazz concert. Therefore, I didn’t know what kind of music to expect or any music that I was familiar to. This concert was a new experience for me. It was far different from a Hip Hop concert held in some big venue. The purpose of this concert was to show the talent of the future musicians in the art community of Lone Star College: North Harris Campus. Therefore, it was hard for me to decide which jazz concerts would give me most pleasure and exciting experience. I researched for jazz concerts listing and I decided to go to the concert they had at North Harris in April 27, 2015. One of the reason I went to this concert was, that it was in campus, it was free, and my Music Appreciation teacher mention it in class.…

On Sunday April 7 , 2013 I attended the Junior Recital for Michelle Ellison (soprano) and Rachel Stanton (piano) at Oberlin College & Conservatory. Coming to my second show at Oberlin College I really didn’t know what to expect this time around. On this nice day at Oberlin College I observed many students outside playing their instruments and various groups outside singing in circles enjoying the weather. I could tell that these students were very passionate about music. Inside of the conservatory building the recital was held inside of the Kulas Recital Hall. This was my first time entering a room that was made specifically for musical recitals. The hall wasn’t too big but it was large enough to fit a nice sized crowd in a narrow room.…
