Summarize of TQM (Reviewer)
Productivity vs. Quality – this is the common knowledge that if a business sells more goods, the more income
How quality is defined? – quality is defined as simply meeting customer satisfaction
How quality is measured – Business employing the traditional view measures their level of competence and customer satisfaction on their own then match it with a benchmark to see where the business is
How quality is achieved – check the finished product for defects but for total quality business they check the product upon conceptualization
Attitude towards defects – business doing the traditional way sees defects as an outcome
Quality as a function – separate entity of the business system as for total quality business
Supplier Relationship – business with total quality they do researches about the number of suppliers that carries the product
Key Elements of Total Quality:
Strategically based – this is essential because the business can have a roadmap as to what, when, where. Who and how to implement things
Customer Focus – self-explanatory since business thrives for the satisfaction of their customers
Obsession with quality – something that is good enough is really never enough
Scientific approach – each idea and concept that comes in the boardroom should be backed by facts
Long-term commitment – seeing a company grow to the best of its potential in terms of total quality
Teamwork – Unity of purpose and employee involvement and empowerment
Continual Process Improvement – backed by education and training that underwent a rigorous scientific approach
Education and training – this irritates most employees
Freedom through control – this co-exists with employee involvement and empowerment
Total Quality at glance:
Set up goals – this goals will serve as guideposts
Have the drive – this is self-explanatory since it would be worthless to set up goals if the company does not want to implement them
