Mexico has been known for it’s food and attractions which makes tourists want to come every year to experience the wonderful sensation of this country. It’s been the record years for tourism in Mexico since 2004. Now, tourists have stopped coming to Mexico due to drug war. This affects Mexico economically, due to the violence that’s been happening. This conflict of drug war has been rising up starting this decade. It's been counted by the Mexican government "12,456 drug-war deaths in the first 11 months of 2010, nearly twice as many such deaths as it counted in all of 2009"(Reynolds 1). Acapulco has been known as the biggest tourist resort in Mexico for years, due to it's beautiful beaches and other various attractions. But now lately, the attention that's been getting from Acapulco is the violence that's been going on due to drug war, making the tourists not plan on going to this country which affects the GDP in Mexico. The Mexican police in Acapulco has been found five headless bodies thrown out and "three of which were in the city's main tourist area"(O'Reilly 1). This makes the country a negative effect on tourism. This is a major problem in Mexico. It has affected Acapulco's reputation, and that's a huge deal since Acapulco is a big target where people from all over the world come to visit. People living in Mexico get affected the most. Hotels, restaurants, people selling items at the beach and other places in Mexico get the most affected since this is where tourists spend their money at. This conflict is really terrible it has "delayed or killed many hotel projects across the country, others have been completed"(Reynolds 1). According to the World Travel and Tourism Council economic data graph, the travel and tourism total contribution to GDP in the year 2008 in Mexico was $158.917 bn.
