Toxic Bust Research Paper
Cancer is a serious health problem in America. We are all told to avoid smoking, exercise as much as possible, get regular checkups with your doctor, keep up to date with your vaccines, and of course reduce your time in the sun to help reduce your risk of getting cancer. But, as shown in the documentary Toxic Bust, even if you do all of those things, you can still get cancer. So what other things must you do to help in your battle in fighting cancer? The first thing that we should do is to stop using so many household cleaners that have hazardous chemicals in them. As shown in the documentary, the advent of household cleaners becoming more used since the end of World War II is theorized to be linked to the increase in breast cancer in women. The website Breast Cancer Fund, list several household chemicals that have been shown to have carcinogenic chemicals makes a person’s risk to get cancer higher. It is best to use cleaners that do not use these chemicals that can increase a person’s risk factors. Another thing that Toxic Bust showed was that the increase of the use of cosmetics and certain skin care products can have an affect on a person’s chances of getting cancer. The website The Future of Health: NOW lists ten chemicals in common beauty aids that can cause not only cancer, but pose other health risks to consumers. It would be best to once again, as with household cleaners, to avoid these products and use only those that do not contain these hazardous chemicals. Diet is an important part in keeping healthy, but as shown in Toxic Burst, even when you buy healthy foods they can end up hurting you because of the use of pesticides and herbicides.
