effect on objects is stronger when the object is heavy and rolling downhill. Gravity pulls down all objects but some objects weigh less, they roll slower than most objects. This was discovered by Sir Isaac Newton.
Mass, momentum, velocity, and acceleration as well as gravity have an effect on the way the car rolls down a slope. Mass is how much of something is inside an object ("Mechanics and Motion"). In other words mass is the amount of matter in an object. Matter is anything you can touch. Matter is all around people. Antoine Lavoisier discovered the concept of mass.
Momentum is how strong a moving thing is. Momentum is mass multiplied by velocity. The heavier the toy car is the more momentum it has (“Momentum”). “The standard metric unit for momentum is kilograms multiplied by miles per second”. Momentum is a vector unit, thus meaning kilograms multiplied by miles per second in a certain direction (Henderson "Momentum"). For example I am going north five kilometers per second. Acceleration is a way to measure how much an object speeds up. Gravity is an important factor in acceleration. Like a toy car rolling downhill, gravity pulls the toy car downhill thus creating acceleration. The deceleration is when the object slows down due to friction from the ground (Carr "Acceleration"). The toy car when rolled downhill it picks up speed at the top of the slope. Then the toy car picks up momentum through the middle. Last the friction of the ground on the wheels cause the car to slow down. Velocity is speed with direction. Velocity is measured in vectors and can be put in kilometers per second in a certain direction. Velocity and speed are very similar but speed is how fast an object is moving and velocity is how fast an object is moving in a certain direction.
Due to Sir Isaac Newton’s first law of motion an object can only move or stop its movement unless acted on by another force (louviere "Newton's 3 Laws of Motion").
This other force is gravity, when the car goes downhill gravity is pulling it down
If there were three cars one weighed five grams, one weighed ten grams, and the last one weighed one gram. If the three went downhill one would go farther. Because of momentum and the gravity pulling it down this would cause the heavier car to go farther. When the momentum and gravity pull down on the heavier object it causes the car to have a higher speed than the others therefore making go farther. The car that weighs the most will go farther because it has a higher speed and momentum. Gravity has a huge effect on the way a toy car rolls downhill or down a slope. The cars mass, velocity, acceleration have an effect to. Acceleration is the rate at which an object speeds up. The car’s acceleration point is during the middle of the slope. Momentum ,which is how strong a moving thing is, happens also in the middle of the slope or hill. As the toy car falls it accelerates and picks up momentum. During this whole process gravity is at work. Gravity is pulling the car down the slope. The velocity is the speed it is going in that
direction.
In conclusion the toy car moves downhill the fastest when it is heavier. The car is pulled by gravity downhill. This creates momentum and acceleration. Without gravity none of these physics would exist. Gravity is what keeps people on the ground. Gravity is the reason why there is momentum and acceleration. Momentum, gravity, the mass of the car, acceleration and velocity are used to explain how a toy car rolls downhill. The car that goes the farthest will be the heavier car. It picked up more momentum and speed than the other cars.
