Today, Toyota has extended its focus beyond automobile manufacturing into other fields, including housing, financial services, communications, marine and biotechnology, and afforestation. In 2006, Toyota introduced their first hybrid sport utility vehicle with the Highlander. The Highlander Hybrid is a midsized sport utility vehicle similar to the regular Highlander, except it achieves 28 miles per gallon in city and on highway. The 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid was named best overall value of the year by Intellichoice in the full size crossover/wagon category and ranks 7 out of 21 in affordable midsize sport utility vehicles.
