Tozer Pursuit Of God Summary
This semester I read Tozer’s “Pursuit of God”. This book explores different aspects of pursuing God. I found it helpful in my understanding of how to have a personal relationship with God. The bottom line is that we must cultivate our relationship with God. As a result, we can take the foundation of our relationship with Christ and develop our relationships with others. I believe that God’s role in developing a desire to know Him is a hunger that is placed within us. Our spiritual wellness depends on our relationship with him. God desires for us to know him intimately. He wants us to love Him. The more we know God, the more we know about His unconditional love for us. You must set aside quiet time for Him daily. Our relationship with God is valuable. With it we have eternal life. But it's more than just having eternal life. It’s about the quality of life we have while living here n earth. It’s about really living. It’s about true spiritual life. It is alo about spiritual riches. God gives us true wealth. This wealth consists of love, joy, peace. These are gifts are priceless.
God definitely speaks to us today. Not necessarily in an audible voice. He speaks to us through His word, through other believers, through circumstances, through the Holy Spirit, and through prayer. Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.” God doesn’t speak to each of us the same way. He is a creative God. He speaks in many ways, including miracles. It is also important that we listen to Him, instead of talking, when we communicate with God.
Tozer referred to faith being a gift of God. The word functionally means practical or useful. Faith is a useful tool to navigate through life. Without faith you would have nothing. With it, however, your life would be full of God’s blessings and love. The meaning of philosophically is a way that relates to the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence. While philanthropy is important to our spiritual growth, without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews
