Executive Summary
In this report, we provide an analysis and evaluation of the company operations of Weng Seng Engineering Pte Ltd using concepts of TPM. The company was established in 1999 and began operations in year 2000. Its key market is in producing precision parts, tooling, heat treatment services, jigs and fixtures for local and overseas markets. Its business was greatly affected during the general economic downturn due to the high Singapore dollars against US dollars, and relatively old equipment which severely affected the company’s ability to compete in the market. TPM is a key strategy recommended to remedy the company’s situation to include a greater proportion of investments in the Asia pacific region, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cost discipline and expanding investment in human and physical resources. This report will comment on the introduction of TPM, success stories of others plant, and implementation plan of TPM, thus solutions to the company.
